S13 Fuel leak
I noticed a small fuel leak today underneath the rear of my S13. Looked under and fuel seems to be dripping from a hose. I pulled the fuel pump cover to look at the lines to see if the hose clamps had gotten loose. They're snug and no fuel leaking there.
The leak only occurs when I turn the car on. So I'm thinking the lines are old and need replacing, not a cracked tank. Is it okay for me to drive around like this? Its only a couple drops every minute and doesn't seem TOO serious. How should I go around about doing this? Can I get new hose from any auto shop? Jack the car up, pull lines, and fit in new hose? Sorry, a big noob here. Thanks |

It's pretty simple actually.
Just de-pressure the fuel system by removing the 10amp fuel pumpfuse while the car is running. Then you can remove both hoses ( that's if you don't know which one is leaking), take them to an auto parts store and get the same size hose. Install new hoses, then plug fuse back on. Start the vehicle and inspect is issue still exist. make sure you get FUEL INJECTION hoses for high pressure! VERY IMPORTANT! I just did this recently because I had put a low pressure hose(temporary), so I swapped to the high pressure fuel injection hose. They sell them in length at auto parts store, I believe it's like $7-$9 a foot. |
