Ok, as some of you know, I was involved in a accident about a month ago that was not my fault. I ended up getting a new drivers side headlight, bumper, and lip. They also repaired the dent on the corner of the front of the hood. After they fixed it the first time there were a few spots of overspray and a few scratches that weren't there before. The hood/grill was also crooked. I took the car back to the body shop on Wed. to get these anomalies fixed. It looked pretty good and the lady there said if I had any more concerns call them. I got back to school and noticed that my hood/grill was still out of alignment. (see attached photos of before/after drawings) What I want to know is will the body shop buy me a new hood? I think that whenever they hammered out the dent on the hood, it stretched the metal. So it is impossible for the grill to line up with the hood. I just want to get your thoughts on whether or not I should try to fight this. I think it's going to be a PITA. My dad seems to think they won't get me a new hood, but some of my friends think they will/should. I just want some more thoughts/opinions.

Did the insurance write up a new hood cuz sometimes if the insurance did write up for a new hood the shop somtimes just fix the damage on the hood and pockets the money that was ment for a new hood

yeah dude fight it. Take it back to them and be like "listen, I dont care how but when I get this car back it better be perfect or im calling the BBB"

Do you have a written garuntee or otherwise something indicating you have to be totally satisfied? I dont think they should need to get you a new hood, they can more than likely fix it if they know what theyre doing.

I have a friend that has had her car to and from MACKO (sp?) 6 times now to get the paintjob she wanted corrected. (overspray, missing spots, crooked parts, mismatched color) They actually gave her something like %30 of her total back..

yeah I agree.

My car is going to this private guy next month and hes touching up all the (few) spots that need it, repairing this little dent where some kid backed into me over the fender and putting on a new clearcoat and buffing the whole thing for $300 canadian

and the kid that backed into me is paying for it. Thats a wicked deal..I cant wait!

EONE: No, when the body shop wrote up the estimate they put down "repair hood," so they couldn't have screwed me over that way.
I've decided to just go back to the body shop tomorrow and try to get this shit taken care of.
Oh yeah, there's another part that they messed up too. One of the things that I had them fix the second time was the lip because they missed a few spots in the slits under the lights. They had to take that off to repaint it. When they put it back on, they didn't re-attach it to the the gap-gaurd, or whatever that piece of plastic is that is on the underside of the wheel wheel which prevents rocks and mud from getting into the bumper. So I'm on the freeway yesterday (the first time I've driven the car over 40mph since I got it back) and I hear something that sounds like a redirection of air coming from the driver's side front wheel, I stop the car and get out, the gap-gaurd is hanging on by one bolt and is completely mangled. So I need a new one. Excellent.

The sad thing about this whole ordeal is that this body shop is said to be the best in town. I believed this when I saw how shady the other shops were. Damnit.

I hate to tell you, but after a car is hit, its normal to have problems like that. take it back, tell them your concerns.. if you are a dick and are like "I DEMAND THAT THIS **** BE TAKEN CARE OF", well, I'd never treat someone like that whom I wanted to trust with my car.
I'd just go in, be a nice guy, tell them that you don't think its fixed correctly and you'd like them to take care of it.
I'm sure they will if you treat them kindly.

I'm wasn't planning on going in there and bitching them out, I know they would just treat me the same way. I'm sure everything will go well, the other day the lady said to come back if I had any concerns, and that's what I plan on doing.
