With all of the people who have been scammed or sold a junk, I'm pretty shocked to see people still ordering engines through email or from Canada.
Much better off picking a swap up from someone in driving distance, you'll save on shipping, and you have someone's door to kick down if your engine ends up a paper weight. |

Guy's you need to calm down about saying crap about canadian. I bought 4 engines from different jdm shop in Montreal, and many of my friend bought them to and we never have problems. I must admit that i would never buy from them online because you don't get to see the engine but in person i would do it again...

Not talking crap on Canada, because lord knows there is enough scam artist here in the U.S.
I'm just saying purchase a swap from some place you can physically see it before forking over $1900+ dollars. These engines are only getting older while sitting in warehouses, so quality engines are becoming harder to find. |

I still can't believe you posted your fucking bank account. 9k isn't shit. Definitely not a large enough amount to try and act like a badass with. Hell, even if it was $9 million its an equally pathetic attempt at being a badass. I know people who literally make that in a day and you'll never see them out showing people a copy of their bank account to prove that they are awesome.
On another note, I'm glad that you got your engine. You made some serious mistakes along the way but at least you didn't get totally stiffed.

The sad truth is...even if I am staring at the motor set in person I still wouldn't know what the hell is wrong with it. The main reason I want to be able to reach a shop in person is so I can slap the lawsuit on them if fail happends.

I am way late to this thread but I just have to comment on your whole Japanese Engine Import deal. I've been buying stuff from Phil (He is most likely who you talked to) for over 3 years and have never had issues. I have also been at the shop when he has sold engines and I have never seen him turn down a compression test to anyone or not honor a warranty as long as the person wasn't being shady themselves.
Glad you got your engine though, hopefully you don't have issues with it. |

Ok.. I'm glad that a lot of you got great service at Zerolift, but there are just as many (if not more) who didn't. I'm even local.. Quoted 2 weeks from order to roll-out. 6 weeks later (with a LOT of prodding from me) the car limps out. Didn't know what the ecu was, didn't clean the bay (as part of the install labor), improperly wired the motor, had to take it back because the backside of the turbo was falling off, didn't replace the mounts (they are in BAD shape), etc etc etc... There was even an issue with the exhaust (they sent it out with a leak) and when I took it back in, they charged me to create a test pipe...
And if you look at their BBB rating (since someone mentioned that) it's a nice big F. Robert claims he doesn't care about that as it's all a scam (I believe is how he put it but I wouldn't quote him.. it's been a bit). Zero Lift Auto Lab Review - ENGINES GAS in Fairfield, OH - BBB Reliability Report - BBB serving Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Southeastern Indiana I've actually been re-working a lot of what was done by Zerolift.. Some they absolutely should have done right, some they couldn't have known (i.e. oil bars clogging). Now, I got a lot more parts for that money then it appears you did (based on replies.. sorry the pics are blocked here) and I'm finally getting the car running to how it should be, but it was a VERY disappointing venture to say the least. Reality is, all companies slip. The SSN is definitely over the top (I'd add a flag with the credit bureaus, not just your bank) and it probably wasn't your smartest move, but I won't go off flaming you like a lot on here. I have heard a lot of success stories through Canadian import companies so we can't just lump them all together. It's a decent amount of money to put down regardless so it will make you a little nervous. I would definitely be more careful about being so free with your information though. Don't give out your SSN and don't post bank statements. Both are just asking for issues... So is the engine in and running now? Have you had any other issues? I'd probably do some basic things like checking for dents in the oil pan, changing the oil spray bars, etc etc just to give you some added insurance. |

Sorry to hear that man and No I haven't had time , but I did get a chance to work on it yesterday and today trying to pull the old motor out. I gotta wait for my friend to bring the crane over. Anyways, I got some photos I've never really worked on cars before so I was slow, but learning. I got about 4 more things to unbolt and it'll be ready to pull. Right now the biggest panic I'm having is one of the drive shaft bolt because of it's at an odd angle and it is tight as shit I just don't want to end up stripping the damn thing so I'm just going to wait and buy some derust spray. I've got radiators, manifold and downpipes coming in so I decided to try to take apart some stuff like the manifold and checking out the turbo. Man I checked the turbo and there isn't even a gasket on there and there was small puddle of oil sitting so I started spinning the turbine and more seem to be coming out. I've got a question regarding wiring up the dash Harness, so this car is 90 model and had a 93 KADE in it the sohc dash harness was obviously spliced to the DE harness , now my question is..would I just need to cut the sohc dash portion off and splice it to my SR harness? |

Hey guys, sorry it's been so long my car has been running just fine. I was done with the swap about 2-3 months I just had to get a lot of replacement parts with my own money. The ignitor chip they sent me was fucked up but they said it was the shipments fault which clearly it wasn't they . The turbo was bad as well so I had to get it off of somebody on here. Lastly they sent me a redtop ECU instead of a black top..to their credit they offered to replace it , but at that point I didn't want anything to do with them anymore since they didn't even want to replace an ignitor chip. Aside from the the car has been running great. |

Also most engines are essentially sold "as-is" . The nice thing about local is that you'll verify your getting all the parts and everything is in good shape. You also won't jump threw stupid shipping hoops and be praying it all works out. If I sold an engine to some kid and 2 months latter he's calling me up, threatening to sue cause it don't work, I'd tell him to get fucked. |

Just joined teh forum to let other know my bad experience with JDM NAgoya Auto Parts. Bought a BEAMS 3SGE from them 12/12/11. they swore it was a good, running 62,000km motor. Close inspection of the ebay photos (now that I have teh broken crap engine here I know what to look for) shows they advertised it with 3 smashed sensors plus smashed coolant outlet in rear of head. 15/12/11 they email me to say "freight delayed due to bad weather", wont arrive in Australia ti 17/2/12, conveniently outside of Paypal's 45 day limit on disputes. Engine finally arrived end Feb 2012, took more than a week to clear Custom by which time I had had to go overseas on business. Got back, noticed broken sensors, not too worried as I have some spares. Took a month or so to get race car ready for the new engine so only got to start the work last night - found no coil pack or plug in cylinder #3, absolutely no thread at all in #3, and bad burns all over the plastic engine cover from engine running with only 3 plugs. Asked nicely but JDM Nagoya refuse to refund or part refund - they say it is impossible for them to sell an engine like that - clearly engine has never been tested by them - JDM Nagoya refuse to help and because the engine took around 90 days to get to me after I paid for it Paypal and ebay wont do anything either. Including freight I am down AUD2,900. JDM Nagoya? I wouldnt recommend them at this stage but lets see how they respond to fraudulent trading investigation from Paypal. Engine was clearly sold as running condition and is pretty much good for a boat anchor. Posted "wthout prejudice".

I gotta say, the engine that they've sent me is still running strong my daily commute to work is about 80 miles a day.
They just had shitty customer support. |
