to those who wouldn't otherwise consider it because of aesthetic reasons. (the Prius & Insight aren't exactly the best looking cars out there) Honda is probably trying to win over more ppl who buy cars b/c of looks. You may not care for it (and tbh, I'm not too crazy about it myself), but the overwhelming number of positive feedback on this thread alone, is indicative that Honda succeeded as far as visual appeal alone. |

Honda has:
S2k Chassis a shitload of fun engines (K-series, F-series, even dated C-series) some decent looking styling (Acura pre-gaudy grille) And we get: FWD hybrid coupe Does not compute. Make the RL RWD, stick a v8 in it, lets go GS/5-series hunting. |

30+ MPG and only 122 hp?
you might be able to find a 1991 CRX that does better mileage and goes faster . . . Honda fail. Not pretty enough, not fast enough, not fuel efficient enough. Give me a Fit. |

Autoblog:
While we're really digging the looks of the CR-Z and the way it hearkens back to the classic CRX and even the original Insight hybrid, we've gotta admit that we're a tad bit disappointed with the specifications. With 122 horsepower on tap and just 128 lb-ft of torque from the 1.5-liter VTEC four-cylinder with Integrated Motor Assist, shouldn't we expect more than 36 miles per gallon in the city and 38 on the highway from the CR-Z? If this thing is more than $20K its a total rip. |

I think it's a lot better looking then both. If it's priced less, and it fit (no pun intended) my lifestyle more I'd rather have this.

i think it looks cool, and of course people are going to buy it because its the "new cr-x" or whatever. but as far as performance, you can buy a new civic and it has more power AND get about the same gas mileage. oh well, to each his own. people who buy this car probably arent going to care either which way. its a hybrid, it gets decent gas mileage for a hybrid, and its the "new" cr-x. and its a hybrid. thats why people will buy it

well if looks alone is what sets this car apart from Honda's own,
then that's a bit worrisome in terms of looking it as a successful product. Price-point will probably determine the CRX's chance of success. At 20k, forget about it. At 15k, it has to compete against the Fit. Well, it's a sportier alternative to the Fit perhaps. Yeah the civic is actually a very strong contender. Like the way the car looks or not, it delivers. the '10 civic hybrid gets about 40/45 (or so honda advertises). It can also be made into a pretty decent handling car. you just swap in Si parts. To me, that's the best hybrid honda has right now. |

just read through the comments in the autoblog post..... looks like the overall sentiment is of disappointment. this is what happens when a mugen car gets leaked first.

Mugen's tweaks are usually more on the cosmetic side.
Performance modifications are typically modest. I think Autoblog was more concerned with the vehicle's overall performace. There's only so much some fanciful body-kit, a $2,000 jdm exhaust, and other boutique mods will do to change that. |

It's odd that O feel the opposite about this car for some reason. I've been so anti-Honda/Acura for so long. I HATE (yes that's a strong word, and that's why I used it) the entire Acura line-up. And I have only slightly less animosity towards Honda's line-up.
But for some reason I really like this car for what it is. It's not a Civic and it's not an Insight. Hell we've pointed out as a hybrid it's not even as good as either of those cars. on top of it it's a 2 seater...but it just does something for me.
