god... I hate boston but now that they have moved on, I CANNOT WAIT to see Kobe and the Lakeshow dismembering these overrated leprechauns. Anyone else check out realgm.com? The boston fans on there have got to be the most asinine, whiny fans of basketball EVER. Once again they make a thread complaining about the officiating (for some reason, only boston fans are able to spot the obvious bad calls made against them) on a night where their team wins and moves on to the finals. There is at least one obligatory ref complain thread per game in the playoffs. They've whined their way through the playoffs starting with the hawks, then cavs, now the pistons. All you LA fans, get ready for the whining to reach unprecedented heights during the finals, since they just can't seem to accept the fact that they're NOT AS GOOD AS THEY THINK THEY ARE! They complain when the media thinks the Lakers are the better team...they complain when their very own Sports Guy thinks LA is better....Jesus, they even think they have a better bench and that they match up really well against the Lakers... I know fans will always be homers, but dammit if these fans have absolutely no ounce of shame or objectivity at all. Fuck the overrated, Lakers in 5.

Sucks for Beantown to be disappointed again...Pats choked on the final dance, prepare for the Celts to do the same...
I dont know what it is but why does the Celtics have the same aura, like the pats did, that they "deserve" to win the big game? Nobody owe you shit, shut up and play... PS: As much as I always loved KG and Allen...Lakers in 6...maybe next year guys... |

I wouldn't say they have that same aura...maybe they had some of it at the beginning of the regular season, but its worn off. Look at their playoff run. The only thing anyone is saying is that it'd be nice to see KG get a ring, but right now it doesn't look too good. The team seems to have lost that oompf.

I present my "if/then" for this one.
If the Lakers steal game 1 or 2, I call for them in 6 (5 if they take both), if not, I call Lakers in 7.

This will be a hard-fought series, but if Boston doesn't mop the floor with LA in game 1, there will not be 7 games.

lakers have a +6.x point diff in the playoffs, the best. boston has a +4.x, 2nd best in the playoffs. Should be a great series and very intense, but Lakers have managed to get that point diff playing the defending champs and another top 5 team in the jazz. Whereas the celtics have only played 1 real team, though it does seem like they are sorta figuring it out. I think if Ariza can come off the bench and guard pierce or allen, lakers will win it. the 2-3-2 format is really a boon for the lakers. lakers in 5.5 (can't decide 5 or 6).

I'm a little behind on this thread but
The Lakers aren't as young as everyone says. Yes they may not have Finals experience besides Fish and Kobe but the average age of their top 8 guys is 28. Besides that, all of those guys have been in tough series, even if you don't include this year's. How could you say Mason was the worst free throw shooter (form wise). Yeah, they were one handed, but he still shot decent (70%). I think Beidrins is way worse or Shaq...absolutely no arc. Nobody shoots freethrows the Rick Barry way for the same reason nobody learns how to shoot the sky hook, (the real one, none of that baby hook or jump hook bull shit) Everybody hates Barry and Kareem. As for the 3 pointer by Vujacic...maybe he's boys with Donaghy or something. The 3 meant nothing...except that the spread was 8 or 7.5 depending on when you got in and the +/- was 193 or 192. I'm just sayin. |

Man the Lakers are gonna take this in 6 if it even goes that long.
Phil Jackson is a far superior coach to Doc Rivers. Boston has yet to play any team with the offensive firepower that the Lakers can bring- the inept cavs, the slow-footed Pistons, and the still too young Hawks weren't real challenges yet still pushed the Celtics. None could match the versatility and execution that the Lakers have. Kobe is a better pure scorer than Lebron, and I don't see who's gonna guard Lamar Odom. Assuming Garnett draws Gasol, you either have to stick Perkins on Odom to get burned or a smaller man. The plethora of shooters off the bench and the greater rest the Lakers have had don't hurt at all. It's gonna be Lakers in 6. |

i will disagree with you on a Laker matter for the first and only time in my life just for the sake of being different and say Lakers in 6.

I'm still amazed at how many celtics fans say that the lakers haven't played a defensive team as good as them (since they think the defending champs werent as good as they are defensively), forgetting the fact that they haven't played an offensive team as good as the lakers.
I'm still amazed at how many celtics fans say that their bench is better than the lakers... at this point it's not even worth debating with them, if they actually think cassel, house, pj brown, posey, big baby... is a good bench... then so be it, no amount of reasoning will work. My favorite is when they say Gasol hasn't played a defensive player as good as KG (who is tim duncan?) and KG will shut him down... just like lamar odom, whom KG will also shut down.... so which one is it? Is KG going to shut down both gasol and odom while worrying a guy named kobe? Jesus I'm going crazy over some fans. I cannot wait until the lakers win in 5.5 games. |

the way i see it, any fan who's team had the best record in the NBA and went to 7 games againts a team who's record was BELOW .500 for the season has absolutely no room to talk.

sorry boston fans, I know that forum doesn't represent all of you, probably really just a minority. but i'm trying hard to get myself really hyped up for this series, since my team is out and i haven't had many reasons to cheer for the past few years. |

were going to be the hardest competition for them, but it looked like the Lakers just came up with that killer instinct they lacked. Now that they're playing a "weaker" Boston team who doesn't seem to know how to put teams away... I say 5. Also, the Lakers are an excellent road AND home team; can't say the same for the Celtics. I don't want to under- estimate them, but the way they have played this post season doesn't make me believe otherwise. Who knows though, maybe the C's will wake up? |

I'm not really a fan of either team but what really bugs me is that they don't play til Thursday. Seriously, you need a week off. That's what kills me about the NBA. Their scheduling sucks. They should have a day of between games unless there is travel then you get 2 days off. But giving both teams a week off, for no reason really since they were both done by Friday. I could see maybe an extra day or something, but c'mon. |

From what I see, Lakers are good at mentally or defensively shutting down key players (Iverson, Boozer, Ginobli) and I'm going to say at least one of the "big 3" from Boston are gonna have shitty games throughout the series, which will deal a huge blow on their offense.
Even if you shut down Kobe, Lakers got such a good supporting cast that they can fight even if Kobe has no free throws attempted or a <20 point game. Spurs series was a good example of that.
