s14 1995 ka24de high idle

I have a couple questions about what can cause a high idle. My car runs at about 1500-2000 rpm. when I bought it the car whould idle at 1500 but the RPM's would drop when I would slow down. I noticed that the throttle position screw was almost off. I fixed that so now rpms dont drop but now how do I fix the idle issue? Would that be a timing issue? Can I reset the tps? Any help would be greatly appreciated

tough problem , if it were me i would remove the throttle body and make sure the gasket is good.

then check the throttle cable and make sure it moves ok , you could even spray some wd40 down the cable , also on the return spring and fitting .

while the throttle body is off check the tps , making sure it is clean inside , put a ohm meter on the pins and make sure it is a smooth resistance as it is worked.

if the above is good try resetting the ecm .

if all the above is good make sure the timing at idle is 20 degrees .

also try spraying around the intake manifold and throttle body with brake cleaner or wd40 and see if the idle changes.

I'd check and clean the iacv. And adjust accordingly once put back together.
