Mine has been running many years with a L28ET swap.

Drives like a 280zx turbo but a lot more comfortable and with better sound options.

I have that m30
I was in GA when I picked it up
now it's in tx.
getting ready for paint, while I wait for the new harness.
finally fixing that dent in the driver side quarter panel.

I know it's the same car, same steering wheel. Can find it all over the web.
will post some pics when I get to a computer

It's about to get a nistune board + 550's. Had a holset hx 35 when I got it, still does.
I think it still had a smaller turbo on it when your friend had it.
