Starting problem

I have a stock 95 240SX with auto trans. sometimes it starts right up and other times when you turn the key you hear a click that sounds like it is comming from the starter after several turns and clicks the engine always starts.
I bought a used starter from a member here and tested it before installing it and it worked fine, after installing it it does the same thing as my old one,i bench tested the old one I took out and it seems fine but in the car it didn't work! Possibly a bad ground or pos. cable? Maybe the park/neutral position relay or theft warning relay?anyone had these same issues can suggest causes or how to fix it?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

My car did the same thing for about 4years and after replacing the ignition switch by the steering column it started up right away.

check your ground and also check your battery terminals. had this problem many times. if that is not the fix for it, start looking into your ignition switch. clicking sounds are normally a bad connection with battery or bad ground.

oddly, another thing is, check the intake manifold bracket. its built so close to the starter terminal. make sure that those two objects arent in contact. took me a whole day to figure that out.
