S13 defroster?
Hello zilvia, I’m looking at buying a 1989 s13 hatch with an rb20. The car seems to be in pretty good shape, and runs well but at the moment can only be registered as an antique. Reason being, it currently does not have a working defroster, which is necessary for my state to pass inspection. The seller has not specified if there is a heater core at all, although I believe it does, as it is a swap, and simply doesnt look hooked up. If it is there, would all it needs to work be a heater hose run to the firewall? If The core is not present at all, besides pulling the dash, the system should be a fairly simple install am I correct?
I like this car as it is the setup I would want to run, and the chassis is rust free which is very difficult to find in my area, so I don’t want the heater core to be the reason I don’t get this car, so please help me out! Thanks! |

Putting in a heater core is easy in an s13. Pull the dash, take the AC box out, and pull out the heater core.
Hopefully the heater core is still there and they didn't remove all the ducting. If you're state requires this, how extensive is the test? If they didn't remove the ducting and all they do is make sure your defroster blows on the windshield, you might be in luck. |
