Def,
They are Aeroquip. I am not sure exactly where they came from but I've seen them on military aircraft and thats where they supposedly came from. They were probably made as bespoke items for a specific plane. Used, you can pick these up for a decent cost, just have to look around for them. There is a tiny bit of leakage but no air is let into the system so if it were coolant or brakes, no bleeding is necessary. If you look at a relitively modern WRC there are about 100 quick disconnects throughout the car. The money adds up when new but second hand they are a great option. Jiffy-tite connections are pretty cheap for the quality of the parts. I think a -8 disconnect is $50 for both sides. A Staubli on the other hand is 130 for each side. What do you use the AE Aeroquip stuff on? Whatever it is, it must be cool Quote:

Thanks for the heads up on the used QD's! I'd always assumed that kind of "specialty" stuff would be quite a bit cheaper second hand, but where do you find a decent selection? Online? Airplane graveyards?

Exciting News!! Low boost tuning was completed last night! From the gains made by increasing boost in increments of 1 psi the power goals for the maxi should be well within reach. The twin scroll combined with the head porting (by head dynamics) has really shown some great power under the curve. It looks like up top the 264s might be holding it back a bit but the transient response of this turbo is insane. Matt Koestner again performed the awesome calibration for the Autronic and made everything look like a breeze. The precision core is absolutely insane in cooling the charge temp. At steady state, maybe 8 lbs or so, the hot side is literally too hot to touch and the cold side is cool, almost ambient. Cooling with the new fans and Davies microprocessor for the pump allowed complete steady state tuning with absolutely no let up for coolant temps. So, at 17 lbs, 373whp was achieved with excellent torque. I don't have the autronic boost control set up yet so I had a hallman on there. The electronic control should allow for some adjustment in the initial ramp up in boost. Once I get a few small things ironed out, I will head for 25 lbs. Just as a gauge, a V10 stock M5 makes 386whp and a stock 2.0 WRX makes 160-165whp on our dyno.

v10?!...
We don't need no stinking v10! How much smoothing is on that dyno graph? The ramp up is way more linear than what you'd expect from a 400+ hp 2.0L. Great work.

awesome build man. seems like an awefull amount of customizing for such low numbers and power. what are the goals with this build?

Power isn't all that low, he's on low boost on that map and more is to be had. Remember this is a DD dyno. Plus power to weight is his friend

One must remember that a dyno is a tuning tool. The power numbers produced from it are only relative to how the dyno is calibrated. You could take the same car to a different dyno and it may make 400whp, or 320whp for that matter.

Look at all that fun between 4200 and 5000rpms .
I hope I can see this in person at VIR again. Are you planning on running the HPDE in December? I am hoping my car will be together with the bilsteins and all by then!
