So is anyone on here running black fmic's to remove more unwanted cop and car theft attention? I know in Cali and Vegas cops are all over the honda guys right now and any import car driver with an aftermarket exhaust. I was wondering if the black fmic would also help keep their eyes off of us?

Ya, I ran the Mishimoto Black intercooler for a while blended right in with my black bumper...Definitely keeps unwanted attention down to a minimum....

I'm out in PA where the cops dont care. But I run a black one, only thing cops mess with me about are my headlights, cuz apparently sylvania silverstars are too bright

I run mine like this:

You can't tell at all from the front, you have to get on your hands and knees and even then it just looks like a radiator or ac condenser.

someone on here was selling a black anodized greddy fmic. I would go that route since it doesn't interfere with cooling unlike paint and it looks so bad ass

Are you retarded? It is clearly visible in the picture. I put it where the AC condenser used to be. You can follow the intercooler pipes and see it no problem?

I blacked mine out years ago, no problem yet.

As to the statement that paint interferes with cooling - take a look at Garret's intercooler FAQ. According to them, factory intercoolers are commonly anodized, and a light coat of paint is "usually much cheaper and easier than anodizing, with a negligible performance loss."

I painted mine flat black, Just used regular paint but I was very careful to lay it on lightly, and only on the front surfaces.. works fine.

I dont see how an intercooler would attract cops. So you have something to cool air entering your engine...i don't see how that is illegal.

Intercooler means turbo. Turbo means a car than didn't come one from the factory has one now. Meaning, it's swapped or modded significantly.

what about vehicles that come stock with front mounts or oem turbo cars that you just want more cooling for

Yup especially in big cities where street racing and import car theft is high the cops definately know what to look for. Big flashy intercooler screams a few things like -

I mean in Cali people are getting pulled over in stock evo's for having wings and modified looking exhausts. They even wrote on one guys speed ticket "Did have street racer package" on it about his car.

Actually, Zilvia was put on the internet, because the internet needed a decent S/Z Chassis site that wasn't polluted with spoonfed n00bs. Zilvia is the place of tough love and harsh realities. There are quite a few people here with more knowledge about these cars than you could hope to learn. He happens to be one of them.
