ALOT! no joke. The girlfriend is doing one in her 240sx.
Last i knew it was just over 9K. All that is left to buy THAT I KNOW OF AS OF RIGHT NOW is the Driveshaft/Wiring/USDM 550cc Injectors. G/L if you decide to do it. if you want a good place for info and what not check out www.2JZSwap.com If you go through Tech 2 they sell most everything you need for the swap Mount kit 1700 Wiring 550 Motor, trans, harness 2600 Radiator 500 Intercooler 650 Etc. check them out www.Tech2motorsports.com or Search RUKUS racing, they make the mount kit cheaper. |

the reason why i think that itll cost so much is because the people that do the swap that buy the parts specificly from a site that know your doing the swap. Thats why they over charge you on parts for example: Wiring Harness $2600. WTF!! thats insane. A wiring harness, that goes for that much i bet if i look somewhere else i can find it for half the price. But yeah i tihnk im gonig to send that guy a PM about the swap and see what he paid for it cuz if its more than 10k then "F" that. Then maybe ill look into the RB swap

Also, They charge $450 for a modded koyo radiator, when you could get any other KA radiator and cut the water neck and run a custom hose. They charge $650 for a IC w/ piping, you get any other intercooler and make your own piping for cheaper. They can charge what they want as they are one of the only places making EVERYTHING you need to get a 2J into your 240sx. |

right i completely agree with you, and from what i see its ridiculous to pay that much money for something so simple that i could do, i understand buying motormounts from them because you need to, cuz they are one of the selected few that sells them. But the motor, trans, harness etc. ill get somewhere else for a better deal. I think if i really take my time and look for the right price on everything i can do it with out spending a dollar over 7k. Do you think thats realistic or am i just smoking crack

7K MIGHT Be enough if you shop around. but if you think you can do it for 7K i would set aside atleast 10K
I told Liz (Lizmo we could do it for about 6-7. and now she is at 9K with ATLEAST another $1000. here is her build cost so far. Battery relocation kit - $78 Battery - $80 Fuel pump - $87 Turbo timer - $40 2jz video - $23 FMIC - $185 Hks bov - $194 Boost controller - 15 Boost cut controller - 50 Temp/oiltemp/pressure/boost gauge - $208 Radiator/fans - 200 Pulley kit - 83 Tranny Cooler - 49 Down pipe - 131 Swap kit - 904 2jzgte motor - 2463 Water pump - 111 Oil filter - 10 Spark plugs - 20 HKS Air filter/intake - 135 Heater hoses and fuel lines - 43 =======$5,110 With another about 3K into misc. suspension and other components. I figured the car is going to be the most apart right now so why not fix and check everything, And trust me there wil be alot more broke/missing then you know (ball joints, tie rods, stabalizer bars, we are also doing the USDM Twin turbos, Cams, and injectors (when we can find them) so for 7K if you SHOP AROUND Yes, you could most likely build it. BUT don't forget we are keeping her car AUTOMATIC. so no clutch, no flywheel no need of another transmission so all that would ad up as well. |

see i think it can be done with under 7k if you dont spen your money on other odds and ends. I think if i have 7k put away it can be done if timed and researched right.

Yeah, and it really depends what all you end up doing to it. i mean You don't NEED a Greddy BCC, You don't need a Big $$ Intake, you don't need boost controller or turbo timer etc. i think if i had to do it over again (which i might, i could do it for under 5K) cause after seeing the little that Tech2 does to a Xmemeber and using stock supra mounts i would just modify my own get stock mounts then go to a Pick N Pull and get a Lexus GS300 or SC300 motor for 100 get the trans and computer (200?) Then go with a lil NA-T build. You could do it pretty damn cheap

i heard the only difference between a N/A supra motor and the TT motor is the heads and obviosly turbos. I heard that the block and internals are identical.

yeah there pretty much the same, i THINK the pistons are differant, i'm not real sure.
it's really pretty sad how little Tech2 does to the cross member and then sells them 1500+ |

Factory turbo bottom ends are very different. They have extra oil galleries/squirters for the bottom of the pistons. This keeps piston temps down. Also, lower compression pistons so you can boost without cylinder pressures going through the roof. The real question you need to be asking (and has been asked in other 2JZ swap threads) is where is the motor coming from (imported 2JZGTE's are cheaper, but not legal), and what years (green top = vvti = hard to tune around). If you're planning on just leaving it stock, you need to re-evaluate why you're spending so much money. PLEASE do some more research before trying to cut corners on your budget. As posted, if you think you can do it for $7k, start buying shit, but don't be surprised when your car is in pieces and you're still saving money months from now.

whos going to know if my engine is legal or not, its not like a cop is going to pop my hood and say let me see if that the illegal 2JZ from japan, point is im still going for the TT motor and not the N/A one. I just wanted to know if the cylinder head was the only difference between the NA and the TT

yeah but in illinois we have no emissions for cars 95 and older so they dont car wtf you got under your engine bay as long as its 95 or older, you can literally have black smoke coming out of your exhaust and you wont get pulled over

That's cool you don't have cops poppin hoods, but I just want to make sure they have as little ammunition to persecute me as possible, ya know?
Good luck with the swap, keep the thread alive with questions, and we'll be back to answer them.

I saw a post of about $5,110 for the swap. A buddy of mine spent roughly $10,000, and that was a 1JZ. That does include SOME goodies, but there was ALOT of custom stuff that needed to be done.

it depends what your doing when your doing the swap, some people take advantage of there car not running for a month or so so they by more parts and consider that part of the swap, what i consider a swap is engine trans driveshaft diff ecu and everything else to get the engine to run. No suspension or turbo upgrade nothing liek that
