haha... my bad man.. i wasn't trying to "steal" your welded diff technique... I'm not insulting you, but seriously, they all do the same thing in the end right? Just lock the wheels....

I was just wondering what TYPE of welds you did, and basically where you welded... Some people even throw little nuts in between the gears, and THEN weld...i guess extra safety????

honestly... I think a VLSD grips a lot better than welded... Since running welded and going on drives with my friends... I definately have to adjust what line i take, and on really tight corners i can not go as fast, or have to go a little wider... IM NOT SAYING that u cant grip with welded becuase you definately can.. im just saying that with a VLSD u can grip drive FASTER and take tighter turns faster...

Nonono. Please dont get me wrong. I dont think the welded diff was my idea, or anything. I was just saying that i have done a ton of RnD with my different ways of welding these things, and i have found the perfect combo. Im sure there are some people out there that are more than capible of welding diffs. You just have to understand that i started this whole weld locd idea so that people like myself at the time could build a competitive drift car without buying a 800 diff. thats it. the only reason i even publisied this diff. But besides my story behind my diff, i must say that before i started posting about this diff no one had ever heard of a welded diff, eventhough drag guys had been using them all the time.

FYI. Vaughn gitten JR d1gp winner bought a weld locd version 4 from me 2 months ago.

Aparently he is using it for his weekend drift car. so with his crazy driving style, and my high hp car we should be able to test the diff to the max this season.

Can anyone tell me what the wheel hopping is or just what all the negative affects of driving slow with a weld diff? I hear alot about locking up and not being able to take sharp turns while slow, what does this all mean? Sorry to sound like such a newb, but i've never droven in or have anyfriends with welded diff.

Nevermind guys, I had a lot of extra time at work so I read the whole tread. So its really all opinion and skill and purpose. That’s a hard one now. I was using my car for Grip and Drift(e-brake -> full throdle -> and control) but I am going to the dealership and picking up a RSX Type-S as my new daily driver which means I can save the grip for the Acura and go all drift with the S13 so I suppose I am going Welded. Is it a pain in the ass to throw it back in the Pumpkin?

I've been around welded diffs forever(in our drag and some cirlce track cars)...so it didn't seem like to big of a deal...

HOWEVER, i checked out your page, and thats badass that you stand behind your work with a guarantee...and the pricing cant be beat.....Two thumbs up for you..

Unless you're Superman or you drop the diff from the top of a 30 story building, doubt it's going to get damaged from you taking it out of the car.

wow.... think about it... u have to take the diff cover off so you can WELD the internals... think u can get to the internals without taking the diff off the car?

i thought u had to take off the cover on the back of the diff am i wrong?? thats why i thought u didnt have to take the diff off dont

me about this question im not to familiar with diffs its not my specialty also im still new too the whole rear wheel drive work i know a few things about diffs but still a newb when it comes to them

Yea on the 240s you have to remove the diff to get the cover off.

Most rwd cars are like that.

Are you sure you need a welded diff?... i mean you call yourself the Drift Master in your Car Domain.... so you're probably already good.
