I honestly think that everything was as expected....
There is usually a bad turn out and this means more track time to those that showed up. Had everyone stopped and thought about the fact that if over 100 cars showed up it would equal less track time, not as many bad comments would be left here. The guys at Adam's really do put on a great event. it takes a lot of work and commitment to organize something like this. Although the amount paid compared to the amount of track time is unjust, it was a simple case of common sense. Its like going to Disneyland on a Saturday and being pissed for having to wait in long lines. In my opinion, I think having an event where you divide advanced and novice drivers would be the best idea. A big part of the day was watching guys spin out and try to recover only to keep spinning. If you separate the 2, you could have a lot more track time and less complaining. Of course it comes down to a location to hold such an event... I had a great time and got to make my farmer's tan even more intense. I had a blast watching all of the dedication out there. Looking forward to the next one. Maybe I'll get major track time now that noone is showing up for it after reading all of these comments LOL |

What a waste of time, for us that are from SD, we caravanned up there. moved back the time for the caravan back to 6am (2hour drive) to get there exactly at 8 like they wanted us to. Only to have the gates closed, could've slept another half-hour.
Once they let us in, at 9-ish, the double tech/number confusion began. So unorganized on both Adam's as organizers and Irwindale as Host's. Then the stupid shorts/jeans rule, I had heard from people last time that there was a mention of having to wear pants so i brought some, even though it was supposed to be 90*F. But they really should've announced it before hand, they new it was coming and they needed to inform drivers. Finally at almost 11AM the track goes hot (almost an hour behind schedule) for "odd" numbers. So is this our original big number we got in line or the other smaller written number we got at 2nd tech, people were confused, once again miscommunication and unorganized. Then the DJ starts blabbering of about it not being a grip event, STFU! we don't want to hear you. I was an even number, so i didn't even get on track till 1pm-ish? And then to have the s14 wreck. Really 45 minute+ clean up? I heard they even painted the wall, WTF?! Got my 3 runs in, finally. Then odds up again, this is where there was "favoritism" there was some people who definitely went twice this round and had more then 3 the first time because they knew the Adams people or something, and also I didn't count but i think the pros went more than 4 times to, I think they were in both groups. Nothing against them, its cool to run along side them but still make them have a same run time or whatever. Then I was prepping my car for the evens second turn and I didn't even hear them announce our group. showed up and people in my group run one and leave, I find a tech and complain how I haven't gotten my second group and he say's, "I don't even know what's going on, honestly." I chill with him and find another tech/organizer with a walkie and he calls in and they let me in for a single run. Get up to the line and the guy there says "only one run, the event was scheduled for a total of 4 runs/person. 3 the first time and 1 the second" I was pissed that it was $20/ lap for me, and everyone considering each lap is what 45 secs? Not worth the money and I wont be going to another one unless its discounted for the people that went to this horribly organized event, or until i hear feedback of a smooth running event by having a drivers cap/limit. /rant

This, I thought this was suppose to happen. I know other events have separate classes and works out very well. I'll go to another event if they plan on having a drivers cap.

Appreciate the comments from those of you who attended July 31 Sideways Sundays . We are reading everything and taking your comments into consideration as we plan the August event. We are already looking at changes that will make it a better drift event.

Here's a tip.. Do a pre-registration + limit on number of drivers, and you won't run into the 80+ drivers dilemma. Unless you care more for making a profit than satisfying the drivers. It would even be more awesome if you guys are willing to compensate the drivers from the last event with at least a free meal or something at your next event for overcharging us over $20 per lap and LYING to us about the run time (start late, end early). It would turn SOME frowns upside down.

as for the event...I don't think I'll be participating in another one again...$80 for 3 runs was pathetic. I was there when the gates opened...what happen to 7am registration? gates didn't even open till 8ish... there needs to be a driver cap, better grouping, 1 time tech as I had to be re-tech'd after my second run..apparently I didn't have the 3 digit number on my windshield..maybe 2 courses running at the same time..alot of unnecessary time wasted...i'm better off paying the extra $30-$40 and driving up to willow springs..disappointing.

Also, Ive been starting to read people complaining about the track, I actually really liked it, but again execution of the track made it unsmooth running. heres a lame paint version of the track layout,
red for bank and blue for amateur. I really liked the layout but its a long track for one person at a time. I dont know regulations that they go through but since they seem to be accepting ideas ill see if i can get people to agree with me. Have 2 or 3 run groups, beginner/intermediate/advance and write it in there window (A/B/I). A- gets to ride bank(like they had the B for this event). They should be allowed to tandem if they want (they are "advanced"). I- should do the whole blue outline, and be allowed to drift it all. And to make things go quicker, run "2 at a time". Not tandem, but once a person passes the yellow line I drew, let the next person go, if the person spins right before the "manji" hold him for a quick second or wave a yellow flag, you have them use them and speak about them in drivers meetings. I feel like the two areas are pretty seperated and could be ran 2 at a time like described without any problem. Any one thats done balcony would know they "wait" in the back straigth till the other person finishes the course to go, so something like that would make things smoother sailing. And beginners, theyre the "future" of drifting so let them in, but only allow them to run the layout similar to the first sideways sunday had, wich is outlined in green in my map. its only an "s-turn" but for people that are beginning I feel like its good enough, people were trying to link the sweeper and the manji and then the iniation to the s and kept spining so bringing down difficulty for begineers would help seat time. Im pretty sure if they had a DJ that wasn't a jerk, and supported the beginners there would be people that say, "yeah its my first or second time and i don't feel comfortable doing the whole track" nothing to be embarrassed of, we've all been there. And they cant be afraid to move people, someone keeps messing up in "i" bring him down, someones doing good in "B" and asks to move up let him. This, I think, will allow them to keep drivers coming back. Just my idea, or how i would run it, but yeah. good to see at least you guys are listening to whats going on. Props on that.

I am a right coaster but when I heard about this I was kinda outraged
there were 105 drivers at ECB this year and I got like 20 runs and thats on a road course that is longer... if a dj came out to and east coast event and talked shit about drivers he would go home in an ambulance |

woke up at 430 and pulled my ride on a trailer from palm springs in a freaking thunderstorm. Got there early thinking that the schedule will be met and i would not have to wait in line too much to register.. NO, had to wait 2 hrs in the parking lot, another hour making line to pay, got teched twice. Finally get on track at 10:30, wait in line again behind a guy who already had a lap. took one lap and was told to head out to the pits. I think they did some even odd number bs, and even were first to go in and guess what, i was odd. took about another hour and a half to get another lap in. at the end i only got 4- 20 second runs. Thats $20 for an 8th of a mile run. And im just a beginner, first time on any kind of track, and to hear the mic talk shit to the people that were like me, that shit aint cool. I think for all the trouble and money spent, i rather just drive up to willow and get my moneys worth.

i was spectating .. i was RIGHT next to the dj/mc..
HE WOULD RANDOMLY blur out.. S13 on the track right now. and THATS IT. i only went to one events at irwindale (friday night lights) not to sure if its the same or what ever but seriously.. it sucked. if they dont fix ALL of the problems then they are going to lose everyone. oh and PRO'S? there was what only 2? jeff jones nd the BMW? JOKE. anyways they should have focused more on the driving . i was speaking with some of the workers at the track and he said he has no idea whats going on, the event is not organized AND being ran poorly. i asked him about tandem nd he said "well hell i dont know HAHA they have been "setting" it up for about 2 hours now. THIS EVENT IS A FUCKING JOKE. i will not want to run the next event. 80-100 ALL DAY AT WILLOW WITH LOTS OF SEAT TIME.. |

Let me get this straight..............
Something having to do with Adams Motorsports was shit, fucked a lot of people out of their money and was filling up their pockets while they laughed to the bank??? (wow, If only someone had been warning everyone about these scam artist for the last 3 years..................) Man, ASB was awesome !! Sorry to hear everyone got screwed. I would be so mad if i had gone. Any event with a "car show" is a good sign its a joke. Just go to WSIR, the extra couple bucks are worth support real tracks/staff that support you back |

i never went to an adams event. I remember when they first started it almost 3 years ago. it was cool, and FREE. then they started charging about 4 months into it and that was GAY. you hear me? GAY. Anyway, I never knew how super GAY adam's was until i experienced it in the butt hole.
Sorry I shouldn't be so mean. some people from adam's are pretty damn cool but I didn't see that person this sunday. Not sure if he's still with Adam's or not. |

lol he got smacked by the wing at the end.....
idk, i wasn't able to make it to the event bcuz i fucked up my ankle the day before...i planned on driving and everything but based on what EVERYONES been saying im glad i didnt make it..it seem like things were unorganized being that all cars had to be teched twice and whatnot... i mean for as big event as it was and as big a track it is and not everyone being pro track time would clearly be minimal since most people would be spinning out as im sure was the case... I PERSONALLY, like the parking lot Irwindale drift events...they were more fun i think.. idk, ive never been to adams track so idk how they run things there, and i only did 2 Irwindale parking lot events that i think wer set up by Riley i believe.. last time i was at any kind of Irwindale private drift event was like 2 years ago when Naoki organized and ran it and i dont think ANYONE had ANYTHING bad to say about how that was run... either way, what happened happened and its over now so oh well..
