EGR help

Ok, I have a 92 base hatch. Got the car off some old guy so my wife and I are the second owners. Since the purchase, its been hell. I've had to change a timing guide and tensioner, re wire the engine bay, changed alot of sensors and tps. Also i have removed and cleaned the egr system. Took it to the smog shop and it BARELY passed.. all of the tests were high.. Ive done some digging and ive done the tests for the egr system. One question i have is.... has anyone tried messing with the egr solenoid on the back of the valve cover? I looked at it and it looks ok... changed all the vac lines on the back of the head and under the egr valve. Code 32 keeps coming back and from what i read, the possible causes are enough to keep me busy all winter. just looking for some input on what you guys have found and/or if anyone has messed with the egr solenoid and had any luck.. I am open to questions and i hope i get this sorted asap.. im tired of looking at that light thanks in advance

Make sure you clean out the component next to the exhaust, that was my problem, I had them put a new one on and that was the problem, just did smog last month and it passed with flying colors

You may want to test that the EGR is functioning properly, the solenoid is controlled by the ECU and is is normally open when not energized. By testing across the two wires of the solenoid for 12V on initial startup and idle you can see whether or not the solenoid is properly closing. You can simply apply 12V to the solenoid while it is out of the car to make sure it is functioning, I included a photo from the manual.
