thoughts on TD05 for redtop s13?

so heres the deal, i found a deal on a greddy td05 turbo. its rebuilt, has no use on it since the rebuild, very little shaft play and spins very freely.....im not too familiar with this turbo and havent really heard of any sr guys using them. do you guys know anything about them? you think this is a good deal or think i should stay away and go with a 2871r like planned? any info is appreciated, thanks guys!

I have a Greddy T518Z which is the equivalent of the mitsubishi TD05-18G. I've had a GT2871R .64 trim and I can compare these turbo to be about the same. Power output wise, the same. Only difference to me between the 2 is that you make power a bit faster on the BB 2871. The T518Z is fully spooled before 4k and the 2871 is about 300 rpm before then.

Personally, I like the T518Z. Why? rebuild is fucking cheap. $80 for a rebuild kit compared to $650 for garrett. Garrett basically replace the whole center carrier for a brand new one and re-uses the old housings. Also, another advantage of the mitsubishi turbo is that you dont need to run water lines. BB turbos, you'd be dumb not to run water lines.

Its not a bad turbo, lots of dsm guys run them around here and the make good power. The cheap rebuild is a plus, bb turbos are very expensive to rebuild, and even if its not the same as new, a good rebuild will have very little difference.

Probably the 8cm... 10cm housing is what most TD06-20g's have. I'd say go for it if the price is right.
