HIDs in Brick headlights question

I have HIDs in brick headlights on my silvia.. Now I got HID in the high and lows my question is that they aren't super bright at all? is that cuz of the housing or the lights? also if I switch it to high beam and then back to low one of the low lights won't come back on but if you turn them off and back on they both come on is that sounding like a wiring issue? I've even been having issues with my car battery dying over night as well? didn't know if this could be the cause.. Any help would be greatly appreicated.. I'm not sure the lights balb size and all I just got the car and it had this done to it so I'm going back to check all the wiring to find the draw and trying to figure out some other issues..

thanks guys!!

Wiring issues or the controllers are bad for the one not working. As for the light output what Kelvin rating did you get? Anything over 5000K and you start loosing light output.

Save yourself the headache and just go back to the brightest sylvania bulbs you can find, that's what I did and my lights are way brighter then the HID's I used to have and I am no longer blinding other drivers.

Lack of brightness could be from a higher kelvin temp than 5000k, or if you are just using a "plug and play" kit your projector lenses are probably made for halogen bulbs which scatter the HID lights unfavorably. As for the one not coming back on, not sure. Sounds like a wiring issue or switch issue. Double check all your wiring.

You stuck a light source in a 20 year old light that's not designed to be used this way of course it's not bright. The light is probably cast all over the place too. If you ever noticed a lot of the brick lights people have have basically no chrome plating left on the reflectors, it turns greyish and has very little reflectivity anymore. If you really want to "fix" this your best bet is to retrofit either halogen or hid projectors into the reflector, or get a set of halogen projector sil lights and do an hid retrofit. Either way you definitely want to replace the thick glass headlight lenses with aftermarket clear plastic units.

I just crushed the front end of my S14 and I am looking for new headlights. Can anyone give me some recommendation on what they used and how it turned out.
