I don't feel anything for a cop... I can't live with them I can't live without them... risk of getting killed... I've been to places you have never seen/heard of before and most cops too.
Tell me how you would like to be in a place where people blow themselves up as a religion... Cops go their warm fuzzy home and family every night... I don't get to see home for sometimes over a year... You have to give respect to be respected and when you harass the innocent because of your authority of power you just broke all that is right and failed to the people you sworn to protect... A cop is human... some people forget that... whatever everyone has their opinions and that's what I fight for so you can say whatever you want without a cop locking you up for 20 years, just look at communist countries... I totally am for modified cars... if the vehicle code says it's okay it's okay! You have to violate them to receive a ticket and if it clearly states you're in the green then what the fuck? I'd exercise my Miranda rights... fuck em. Have with your opinions... I don't care. Quote:

^ Nice.
Fact is, it's much easier to write speeding/parking tickets, than to actually go put yourself in harms way... and with so many people not knowing their rights, that just means tons of easy $ for the state and to cover their paycheck. Why should someone who went out of their way to spend the extra money on a LEGAL mod get hassled? Because he fit a profile? Because the cop wants to power trip? Fuck that. We live under stringent laws already, so it's a slap in the face to get hassled after the fact. FYI, I appreciate the cops in my neighborhood. I've never been given any hassle over stupid shit, and I see them actually doing PATROLS, and not wasting their time with petty shit like shiny exhausts. Yeah, you can argue that breaking the law is breaking the law, but then again, it's their discretion. I know someone who got ticketed for j-walking. Dunno how lower it can get than that. BTW, OP: Was it CHP or local pd who gave you the ticket? |

u know, im really getting tired or these threads like this. no offense or anything but it seems like every week someone gets pulled over and gets ref ticket or whatever, they come here to zilvia.net and whine....and yes, i did that too. yea yea yea call me a hypocrite, blah blah blah whatevers!
but come to realize, we are the ones that are setting ourselves up for failure!!! and the cops are the sharks that feed on our stupidity! SO, with that being said, if u have a DD u might want to keep it stock, i mean its not like u gonna go racing on the streets anyways. just restore the car and body kit it and lower it a bit but stay street legal. BUT if u have too much money to spend or u just a gangsta that doesnt give a fuck and drifts around streets corners with the windows down and yelling 187 on the mother fucking cop!!! with ur muffler noise setting of car alarms and skinning cats live, then go head and do so, but be prepared to PAY some fines for that fun. dont mean to piss anyone off...... |

Difference with the other threads is this guy probably didn't deserve it, until he started taunting the cop, ahhaha.

i'm sure i'll win the case when the court date comes up. i got no worries, not whining or bitching, just explaining what went down, thought it was pretty funny, just wanted to share ;]
who ever said i was bitching about the ticket? i'm not crying about it am i. i didn't start taunting them till i received the ticket, they were giving me a hard time with everything and i didn't see the need in any of it. i kept it pretty chill, answering their questions straight and forward, they kept saying they were excuses and cutting me off. i was bumping techno ! and i don't have subs in the car besides a bazooka 6in sub. LOL, and thats not even powered off an amp, its powered off the headunit. basically straight vocals. sub i keep at 0 or -3. again, who said anything about whining? im not saying FML or anything. get it straight. yep two months and i haven't changed it, i'm not a robot and i have my hands full. i'm a busy person working my ass off 6 days a week. thank you very much. local PD gave me the ticket their awesome. i love them to death LOL. they decide to get me when theirs hondas tcs etc rice burners flying by on the street behind me LOL. im over it. i'm already solving it. it's just a funny story :] this thread is pretty awesomee. got some people sharing their stories, got some people flaming, its all good :] Quote:

Is an Exhaust Ticket in CALI still a "fix it ticket" worth like $25 bucks?
Or is it more now? Anyone knkow the V.C. and what the penalties are? Link me. =-) And would it matter if the Exhaust exceeds 95dbs or not, or they don't even care because it's modified"? Modification of Exhaust Systems 27151. (a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle is not in compliance with the provisions of Section 27150 or exceeds the noise limits established for the type of vehicle in Article 2.5 (commencing with Section 27200). No person shall operate a motor vehicle with an exhaust system so modified. (b) For the purposes of exhaust systems installed on motor vehicles with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less than 6,000 pounds, other than motorcycles, a sound level of 95 dbA or less, when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J1169 May 1998, complies with this section. Motor vehicle exhaust systems or parts thereof include, but are not limited to, nonoriginal exhaust equipment. Amended Sec. 10, Ch. 92, Stats. 2001. Effective January 1, 2002. |

WHISTLE TIP?LOL. Blow off?WTF?
Exhaust Systems: Whistle-Tip Prohibition 27150.3. (a) A person may not modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle with a whistle-tip. (b) A person may not operate a motor vehicle if that vehicle's exhaust system is modified in violation of subdivision (a). (c) A person may not engage in the business of installing a whistle-tip onto a motor vehicle's exhaust system. (d) For purposes of subdivisions (a) and (c), a "whistle-tip" is a device that is applied to, or is a modification of, a motor vehicle's exhaust pipe for the sole purpose of creating a high-pitched or shrieking noise when the motor vehicle is operated. Added Sec. 1, Ch. 432, Stats. 2003. Effective January 1, 2004. Man, this is just funny reading all the V.C.'s of California DMV.......damn. |

I really dont understand this. My friend got a ref ticket for not having a carb sticker on his intake, so if he had one he would of still got one? And how is it fair when the harleys blow by you with their 500 decibel exhausts and they never get messed with? I think harleys are a real thread to the road because when i drive and one of those fucks blows by me i get startled and i can jerk the wheel and cause an accident, but no, they even go after import bikes too.
Who are we really hurting with our mild exhausts or intake? its not like i have to smuggle those things from Columbia, i can walk into any autozone and purchase one. It doesnt produce more emmisions or anything dangerous, I hate the way this shit is turning out to be. It wasnt this bad before, now people are getting ref tickets for the stupidest shit ever. If California wasnt in the shit so much, maybe it would be this bad.

^CARB-stamped products are 100% LEGAL for use in Cali. That's the whole point of the CARB stamp. Duh.
The cop that ticketed him for it was a fucking idiot. |

Couldn't you just have it tested at a CHP station and have written proof that it indeed does not go over 95 dbA? This is of course if the exhaust in question is suppose to meet California legal sound level.

Pro tip: Before you even get an exhaust ticket, go to a state referee and ask them to do a dB test on your car. They'll test it and take pictures of the muffler, and if you pass, they'll print out a sheet that has a picture of your muffler and the test results on it.
Keep these papers in your glove box, and when you get pulled over for modified exhaust, show the paperwork to the cop and you'll be on your merry way with the quickness. IIRC, the test is only 5 or 10 bucks. |

Amen, they sell aftermarket performance items everywhere and it's illegal to install them on your car. It's a joke that they say "Off-road" use. WHO THE ef ever goes Off-Road in L.A.? Is the sidewalk considered off road? Then heck, I'll just drive on the sidewalk then! I just believe that Imports have just been branded the "STEREOTYPE" by now. There's no way to change it. You can't change the "STEREOTYPES" about race so there's no way that you could with Cars. That's just what I think. Just imagine Driving a Hyundai or Ford Escort, you'd probably will never get pulled over because the cops would just feel bad for ya. |

^^ Yeah, I saved the REF's number and probably call them Monday.
I bought a New Apexi catback and just kinda sketchy about installing it. I don't want to install it and ride for 2 days and get a ticket. The best way would be to get a paper that certifies that the exhaust is approved. |

^I'm not positive that they'll set up an appointment over the phone if you haven't already gotten a ticket. You might end up just having to find a local ref station and simply show up and ask them to test up.
Not sure though. Don't quote me on that. lol |
