why do i see bov's on either side of motor?

does it matter which side of the intercooler piping you have your bov on? looking through pics i see people have it on the intake manifold pipe and some on the pipe going to the turbo? does it make a difference/benefit of doing one or the other?

Pro's and cons of both setups, yet neither really has proven (In my experience, or in reading forum folklore) to hurt performance in either location.

If I'm not mistaken, the guys who put there bov on the intake side are using a stand alone with a map sensor, so the bov doesn't need to be recirculated.

And the ones that have it on the hot pipe have the bov recirculated to the intake since there using the stock maf. Correct me if I'm wrong.

He's talking abotu hot or cold pipe, not before or after the turbo.

BOV before turbo wouldn't make any difference at all for sure.

location doesnt matter. If your running a maf setup, you need to recirculate it back to the intake for the turbo (usually after the maf). But if youve made the change to a map sensor then it doesnt matter if its recirculated or not. So depending on what setup you have, dictates where you should located the bov. Usually to cut down on hoses people located the bov, for maf cars, near the turbo intake. Thus creating a cleaner look and a better reading (less hose to travel through). Hope this clears up what these 2 are saying.
