Subframe welded to chassis
I recently picked up a s13 shell, when I got it home and looked under it the subframe was welded to the chassis...is there a reason for this? is it beneficial in any way or should I cut it out and replace?

I really hope I have a picture on my phone now. I am deployed so if I don't you guys might have to wait a few days until I can get someone to go snap a pic. From the sounds of all of these comments there is not an advantage to this. When I get it off and either put a new one on if it gets trashed or use that one if salvageable, should I just run the solid mounts or is there more to it?

Cool so definitely cut it and put solid bushings in? Yes I bought it in the us as a non rolling shell for $200. It should be a fun project as long as I don't find too many more of this nonsense.

Oh this is straight up some redneck engineering shit. Hope it's just plates welded, and not welded because the bolt is snapped or rusted to hell and rounded off.

I really hope so too. My thoughts are that it was a kid that thought it would make the rearend super solid or some shit. The chassis harness was the biggest hack wiring I have ever seen but I have only found 3 spots of rust on it and the frames were perfect.
