Hoosier Tire Sizing: What fits, and what doesn't (Finally stepping up)
I'm tired of wasting street tires on the track, and finally with my job am able to step up to a decent tire.
However, my issue now goes into sizing and what is to small/to big. I'm looking at either running a 225/45/17 Hoosier all around, or a 245/45/17 all around. The reason I say all around, is that I'd like to be able to rotate them all around instead of just side to side (although I'm not sure that's even a good idea). I currently run 225/45/18 in the front and 245/45/18 in rear of my car (on 350z track wheels) and have no fitment issues, even with 10mm spacers up front. However, knowing track tires, I know these will be slightly taller. I know the rear will fit, but am concerned with the front. I plan on running these on late model Mustang GT wheels. So here are some dimensions: Ventus RS-2: 225/40/18 Section Width 9.1 Tread Width 8.0 Diameter 25.1 Hoosier: 225/45/17 Section Width 9.6 Tread Width 8.7 Diamter 24.5 245/45/17 Section Width 9.9 Tread Width 9.4 Diamter 25.3 I'll hafta go home and do some measuring, but am just wondering if 225 wide tires will be enough for a HPDE only car, or if going 245 would be the better idea? The tires on the car now (in their sizes) work great IMO for a true street non r compound tire. Any help is appreciated (Unsure if this is in the right section either, seems to fit a few different ones) -Cody Ace
