how garbage are the CXracing sr20 intake manifolds
Yes i searched and yes i found all kinds of 10 year old threads with people bickering back and forth with no clear answer.
SO unless you own one, your input isnt necessary. However if you do own one how has it been so far? Ive heard CXracing parts have been getting higher quality the last few years and for $150 shipped even if it is junk im not out a lot of money. i mostly want one because if i have to deal with that 2 piece factory manifold again ill probably just throw it in a fire and the one piece manifold looks a lot better as well

My buddy bought the cxracing manifold. It looked nice on the outside (polished) but the inside was disgusting. This was 1 year ago. I opted out for the real thing. The casting inside is very nice. Just buy the real thing. It hurts your pockets really bad, but as time goes by, you'll be proud of owning something real.

Fitment is hit or miss. I have installed some where the flanges would not seat flush with the head, bolt holes not lining up, etc.
As far as long term use, I personally know a few guys who have run fake greddy-style intake manifolds and have broken throttle bodies/sucked down a throttle plate screw because of that (catastrophic failure). They either went and bought real ones or went back to stock.

Juuuust saaaay nooooo to cheeeeeap shiiiiit. Its never worth the money savings, because its going to sooner or later not end up working out, and you're gonna have to go back to stock or buy a real one anyways.
Maybe look for a used real one? Sorry for posting with not having any first hand experience like you requested.. but, come on. You deep down already know this otherwise you wouldn't have made the thread. Also your thread title: "HOW garbage are"... Whether they are a little garbage or alot garbage, you've already stated they're garbage. Don't be the guy that puts his hard earned money, time, blood, sweat, and tears into garbage. There's too many 240 owners that are already that way. k done <3 |

my friend has one and got a good one, just needed a little extra porting but hey, for $150 whos complaining? also heard very good things about the ISIS one which is only $50 more but we know how Zilvia feels about ISIS stuff

stock one makes working on anything underneath it a necessity for it to come off, makes changing the oil filter a PITA and an aftermarket looks better

Remove the stock intake manifold brace, then it's easy to get to the filter.
Otherwise, the only real pain in the ass is the coolant hardlines which you shouldn't have to touch, or the knock sensor. |

It also has provisions for oil pressure/temp sensors which should be closely monitored on any engine, particularly SR20's. Powered by max sells a gauge that monitors both pressure and temp for 180 bucks, which I recommend buying instead of this gaudy intake manifold. I have a feeling you won't like that solution, though. You can remove the manifold braces with no ill-effect, and spend $0 on that. 3) Aesthetics are important, but it should not be a point of justification for having to change intake manifolds, especially to one that can potentially cause you to break stuff. Is it hold you back from making power? Are you going to upgrade to a larger throttle body? Are you prepared to subject yourself to feeling like an idiot and the financial loss/downtime of blowing an engine(or at the very least damaging the head) because you sucked down a throttle screw? I suggest that you just clean up the factory manifold and drive your car, dude. or go buy that manifold. I'll wait for the part out.

hmmm just chiming in on the knock off quality.. I can only speak for the rb engines and the 25's freddy manifolds are good quality(sans some casting). but again you aren't spending $600.00+ for the same damn thing made the same damn way.
don't flame a guy for shopping around for a cheaper product. a greddy manifold for a rb25. some have more casting imperfections than the knock off ones. you won't know unless you try. this isn't something important like a turbo or a oil pump.

Yes, the Greddy needs just as much work and in all honesty, short runner manifolds in general are "junk" from a usable power standpoint (loses power all over except way up in the revs due to the short runner design). There are better ways to spend the money. Stick with the stock manifold/TB that can support 400WHP and a ton more midrange and overall tractable power over the short runner manis. |

got the mess of old hoses and clamps under the intake replaced today and made the decision ill just be sticking with the factory manifold, ill probably also pick up the WT/OP gauge setup from PBM along with an A/F ratio gauge
