S13 Forever Build and 14 Daily
Im just going to start this with a brief description of myself. My name is Cody Loe I started this first build when i was 19, which was just shortly after I got into 240s. I absolutely love all forms driving but one most in particular. God has blessed me with a lot of amazing friends, family, and the greatest passion in the world: Drifting.
Im going to start from the very beginning. My first build was decent I started with a cheap shell from my buddy Derek and $3500 to put into it. Im still learning so if you have any advice or suggestion please feel free to give me your input. The thing i love most about cars and drifting is there is always room for improvement. Also, im not in this just for myself I love the drifting lifestlye and every one in it, so if you have any questions on anything i did or need any help dont be afraid to ask ill try to answer them to the best of my ability. Heres what i started with (so sorry the first few pics absolutely blow i took them with my crappy broken iphone, but i promise they get better now im using my new crappy broken i phone) Very straight body which is what first turned me on to the car. obviously everything else looks like a$$. I really just wanted something completely built with my owns hands because you cant trust anyone elses work on a 240. I started sanding down the engine bay and welding in all the holes on the fender wells and cut the battery box out and welded in a plate. I couldnt stand all the random butt holes everywhere and i Wanted a really smooth clean engine bay. and i apologize these are the pictures that look like i took them with a potato under water. Primed it up Painted that Beezy Made a power brace Made a cross bar Slapped that shizz on The trunk pan was ridiculously rusted out so i cut one out of my buddy G's car and welded it in mine Bam now youll never know Started doing all the bushings New ball joints and cut the bump stops off FLCA and plated them. Kablamm! Gettin that Angle Persuasion. cut the steering arms and re welded Moved it in and lowered it. People always tell me its the wrong way to do it and its going to snap but its lasted the past 3 years and still going strong so jokes on them. Got some crappy K sports off my buddy Jablowme for 300 Angle |

Cleaned up the rear subframe and painted it some kind of sparkly grey.. I had just awful color taste my first build dont hate
Welded that diff I put a plate in there and welded all the spider gears to the plate. i dont think im going to use this method in the future i dont want to add any extra weight in there. Got all the rear bushings done and painted the arms. Again ugliest color taste on the diff I undercoated the whole underneath the car and fender wells you can sorta see it in the pic. I recomend it on every car super easy and cheap and it helps with dirt not getting in your eyes when your working under the car. it also helps if u clean every part with a tooth brush like me then paint it but i dont recomend that if you ever plan on drifting soon. I used collars not risers dont hate on me Made a rear strut bar Lol i stuck a DME sticker on it i dont know why lol Finally bought some brakes. Yeah OEM whatsup LOL heres a little fun pics during this time. TCS : Trevins Crash Spot. Carolla breaking curbs Deany Face hauling a single cam in the trunk of his s14. lol i wish i could say this was the sketchiest thing ive done but sadly i cant.. We turned a ford ranger into a toe truck by put a cherry picker in the bed a towing the engine over to deans s14 and dropping it in. Not our proudest moments OK back to the build. I picked up this Sr for a couple grand from a local japanese import shop You know did the whole clean up/ gasket kit water pump thermostat tune up thing. Surprise! Found out it had this bad ass nismo clutch on it barely used Getting it all together Not bad for my first Sr swap i guess.. lol it ran sooo... Heres a pic of me and my dad. My two buddies davis and brandon i the back. My dads my hero Im so blessed to be raised by such a damn super hero. He's the one that original inspired me to love cars and racing and taught me how to build my first car, a camaro he bought for me and him to work on as a project. Heres his race car |

now for a little peak of my ugly interior
Just like my buddy Garrett said "stock S13 interior just feels like home".. I totally agree but i had sproose it up so i bought some carpet and some seatsand flocked my dash made these seat brackets with my stock ones. worked surprisingly well and sat nice flocked. so easy and came out titties So it ran and i was having fun. took much longer than i intended but eh its done. started driving non stop and took it to a few track days. Heres a skid pad day me and garrett. me in front and garrett in back with his 1uz cressida. yes this was filmed with a potato throw a glass of water as well IMG_6111.mp4 Video by codyscool | Photobucket Then you know what happens when you buy a used motor from japan and drive the crap outa it... ROD KNOCK YES i cried myself to sleep for weeks. But i sucked it up and decided to sell the motor and start over with an s14 sr. Why u ask? I have no idea so just dont ask. Starting all over. heres this mess of metal. it came with 555 cc injectors tuned eliminated maf with a map sensor. i soon found out buying a tuned motor on ebay is a terrible idea. I did my usual damn thing with the motor. Gaskets, clean up, thermostat, water pump, tune up Jascoed the absolute shit outa this hideous valve cover. such a pain got a new s15 t28r and ported the turbine got some goodies Fitted my elbow and downpipe on Act light flywheel and 6 puck clutch welded hydro to plate then welded to my floor pan Its In!! Heres some of my best buddies chillin in the garage while im trying to put my crap together. These guys are awesome couldnt ask for better people to surround myself with Heres me and my buddy Garrett (the one with the justin beiber hair) with his new dual car trailer that our friend Albert tagged on. Did up a Garebear and a turbo. Alberts a damn artist. Everything was coming together i finally got it fired up and has some issues with the whole tuned ECU deal tho. It came with the Map sensor but didnt come with an air intake sensor so i went crazy trying to figure it all out, so i finally bought my own intake air temp sensor and wired it in to where the other one looked it was wired. lol i also bought an AEM true boost, terrible choice but its cool. i accidently boosted it to 30 pounds a couple times while testing it. finally ran it at 16 pounds and it ran the best there. such a terrible unorthadox way to do it ill never buy an already tuned motor again. it was fast tho It was pretty fast. another teaser filmed through a potato. (And yes these were filmed on closed roads under professional supervision) IMG_7265.mp4 Video by codyscool | Photobucket Ended up buying an apexi because i still couldnt get it running perfect |

So I signed up for a track day at Thunderhill and i had two weeks to get my motor tuned and all ready to go. I plugged in the apexi and wired everything in then brought it down. They pulled 300 Hp and 295 Tq out of it and finally got it running smooth.
The weekend of the event came and i Got all my tires together and bought some spare rims. Picked up my trailer and i wanted to take it out for one last run up and down the street before i put it on the trailer. Then BOOM! I lose all my power and smoke starts dumping out the tailpipe. Motors toast oil all over my engine bay. The night before the track day. Hole in the Piston, cylinder 1. Tell me what you think this looks like it has no signs of detonation or running lean. it literally looks like the piston flakes off. So time to rebuild. Safe to say ive learned my lesson, no more buying used motors from across the world where some japanese man has already drifted the sh*t out of it. Any used motor i buy im just going to rebuild from the get go. So i just got some sleaves and ARP studs and im going to get send it off to the machine shop to get started. hopefully it will be done before next season. Well in the meantime i need something to satisfy my vice so i picked up this s14 for $1000 from by buddy nick. hooked it up. it needs some work but the important part is the motor runs decent. im going to clean everything and make it a good running daily that i can get a little silly in the rain. So i didnt plan on doing that much work i just wanted to do the 5 speed swap and maybe paint it but then my OCD kicked in and i started going crazy. I bought all the stuff for the 5 speed swap. Bought coilovers and Energy bushings and the engine gasket rebuild kit. |

finally all done puting the S One Four engine together. Replaced all the gaskets and seals, water pump, thermostat, and all the hoses. Replaced some sensors. Ported the intake manifold and fixed some serious coolant leaks because all my ports were rusting off. Everythings solid now hopefully ill have a good running motor that wont blow up any time soon. It was originally an automatic and it was shifting at like 5 grand at full throttle so this motor couldnt have been beaten on too bad but i think its been overheated a couple times. ohh wellll. Now hopefully ill have everything ready to drop it in next week. i want to put the body harness back in and get all the pedals mounted in because the car was originally an auto. so thats all project for next weekend

I'm a fan of how clean you're keeping everything, and man you rocked the hell out of that black valve cover. Clean and classy.

sorry for such a small update i havent had a chance to work on the car but this weekend im going to get a lot done on it. today i just spent a couple minutes getting the peddles ready to put in. had to weld a spacer on the clutch pedal where the studs go through the fire wall because i bought an s13 clutch pedal and s14 clutch pedals are almost the exact same but they have a 30mm spacer over both studs, where is on the s13 the spacer is on the fire wall .
i had some spacers lying around so i just tacked it on real quick then cleaned up the pedals. i guess u could just stack up washers but i just cant get myself to stack washers I also wanted to say RIP Paul Walker. My passion for cars began the minute i sat down in the movie theatres at the age of 10 and watched the first Fast and The Furious. I wouldnt be the way i am today if it wasnt for that first spark at 10 years old. Pah i think i originally wanted an automatic mustang before that... So Thank God for Paul Walker and Fast and The Furious 1, otherwise id probably be driving a piece of crap mustang right now. |

I just cleaned mine up. you can buy better axles on frsport.com but they are pretty expensive. or you can buy new oem ones on ebay for cheap but idk how good the quality is.
