Hi I'm looking in to buying a new rear end for my car. I'm trying to figure out are the obx ones any good. I know there was one guy that did a write up on it but I check it a day ago and it hasn't changed. So would you all recomend the S15 or the OBX Helical Limited Slip. I auto cross alot and the new did is not holding up to the SR out of the corners. SO what do you all think

I was deciding on the obx and s15. I chose the s15 becuase alot more people have it on their cars with no complains. Not saying anything bad about the obx because I have heard a lot of good reviews about them also. I would just pay more now knowing that it works.

2 ways are too unsettling for autocross/ track use, IMO.

I've heard enough good things about the ATS carbon diff that I'll probably end up with one. I still might try out the OBX since they're cheap enough to be disposable.

it may feel this way, but to really get the good times around the autocross course, full grip is the way to go. torsion driven LSDs is what i recomend for autox. Anyways, thsi is going off topic.

I've never tried OBX but it sounds like its hit or miss just like many "knock off" companies. Im sure most units will work fine but there have been a couple cases with Hondas that once u force those axles, in, they wont come out. It sounds like a tolerance in the manufacturing issue.

It's too bad nobody makes a torsen for the 240

(as far as I know). Probably more of a PITA to retrofit a torsen diff in as well.

I think a helical lsd is the same as a torsen one. According to sportcompact article http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/pr...silvia_part_3/. I know that Quaife make a Torsen one but it 1300. A little to much for me.

Very similar, but not quite the same. I believe Quaife diffs are helical.

How are they different? Is it the torque split that different.

well i have a obx for sale if you want. i'll sell it cheap too b/c im getting a 2way. let me know if your interested. i used it like once lol...it worked great though i did a simple test to do a launch and saw 2 nice black lines.

I might just be thinking of the Torsen T2R, but it supposedly locks with a completely unloaded wheel, unlike a straight-up helical.

what about a gear-type Mechanical Diff? I was under the impression that those were the same as Torsens
