Vertical hood mod
Is there a write-up anywhere on how to do this? I tried googling 'vertical hood,' but only inappropriate pictures came up.
Lately I have been seeing this on quite a few S-chassis. Apparently people mod the stock hinges, however when done that way, it seems that the hood leans back and rests against the windshield, which I do not really want. On the silver Koguchi car above it looks as if some kind of aftermarket hinges might be used, since the hood is sitting straight up, even leaning forward slightly. I was told it is possible to buy such hinges, however I have not been able to find any. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

Shit. My phone just broke and I have pictures of how to do it on there.
My car has this done. Basically you need to grind one tiny part off of the hinges. Fuck it. I'll go borrow a camera and go out and take pics right now. Just for you. |

I did the same thing just ground out the stops. You can grind out as much as you want so it will stop when you want it to. Instead of cutting that tab off if you stick a cut off wheel between the hinge and just grind out the stop on each side till its where you want it.

well i'll be goddamned.
so what's actually stopping the hood? it looks like the edge of the hood hits the glass? a couple pieces of that trim guard stuff people put on their doors would prevent chipping. i'm going to do this f'sho. edit: [email protected] "vertical hood" google results.

Bro yeah bro. You don't even need a hood prop, mine stays up by itself even when there's heavy wind.

Wow, this beats the hell out of taking the hood off.
Snapped the bolts off twice that mount the hood to the chassis, and damn do 20 year old bolts not want to move! |
