If your car was originally single cam you will need a dual cam tachometer for the tach to work. Otherwise there is no reason every single other thing on your cluster should not work. Nothing else needs to be modified when doing an sr20 swap, at least not on the cluster end.

My guess is that when the previous owner did the swap he didn't bother wiring up the dash connector. It is a plug that comes from the ecu and feeds the cluster info. FRSport has an excellent write up on how to do an SR swap wiring. I would start there.

make damn sure none of the wires in the clusters subharness are split in any way, ESPECIALLY the ground wire!!! these are 20+ year old wires that have been cooked in the sun under the dash. they will split and break very easily! took me hours to one day to figure out my ground wire snapped in my sub harness when i swapped my digital cluster to an analogue one in my last coupe. NOTHING worked! as soon as i found the wire and fixed the split, everything worked perfectly!

because you made it evident that you actually HAD searched. You knowing that you need a different tachometer is proof of this.

all goddam day we see people who claim they searched, but in reality if they had, within the first 3-5 links they would have found the answer.

i give you credit for doing a bit of research FIRST before asking the question/starting a thread.

you'll find that most people on here are more than willing to help, we just get tired of answering the same basic things over and over and over again
