a drifts? t drifts? i take it those are tires?
that s14 looks pretty good. i like the m sports hood on it. i got my car running today. i did a new air cleaner, new batterys, and a new glow plug with some fresh gas too. it ran really nice. its too hard to control once it gets going fast enough.. its almost pointless to go that fast!! here is a picture with the body that came with the car so those yokomo bodies will wor k on a 200mm car then.. i think?

yea.
are the yokomos 190mm then? i think i could make it work length wise, but a 190 yokomo would be too narrow on a 200mm car. maybe ill stick to HPI bodies then. the wheels from yokomo should work i think

i think all rims are interchangeable but some have offset to em like 3mm etc *i dont know if that means they are negative 3mm or what*..
my local hobby store doesnt have all that cool stuff *Hobby People kinda sucks if you have anything outside of a typical hpi*... my old tamiya is 187mm =( . 190mm bodies makes the wheels sunken... custom wheels would take care of it. hence why i tried pvc pipe and made em wide for a dish look.

Yeah, you can use pvc/abs.
But it's too slick and you won't have much control. For electric cars Hpi T-Drifts work well. For nitro Hpi A-Drifts work well. Yokomo has different offsets so you can run a 200mm body on a 190 car and still have wheels that fit. Traxxas as well as a few other companies sell hex spacers that you can put on your wheels to lower the offset.

some yokomo bodys are pretty wide
my red soarer on the front page had to use 7mm offset wheels so it would sit flush on a 190mm chassis its the widest body i seen out of yokomo so far |

[quote=Jtuned_andy;2240554]2wd is a no-no if you are gonna try to drift. 4wd, shaft driven, electric is what you want to shoot for, you'll be burning up nitro motors in no time trying to drift
I went through two traxxes 2.5 4 tec engines and one 3.0.. Drifting my 4-tec and I made It rwd. Took out the whole fwd system for less weight and man was It hard to get use to.. For shits and giggles I made It fwd. It was completely useless! All it would do Is spin the tires off the wheels

Alot of the drifters like the rear diff locked and front normally left alone. Travel/clearance is more of a personal driving style thing(some peope run low and others high). As far as springs, you generally want soft springs all around. For my belt HPI Sprint 2 I run soft springs up front, and slightly stiffer springs in the back. Hope that helps lol.

Tamiya, Yokomo, HPI/Hot Bodies, and Losi make good cars. HPI/Hot Bodies are the easiest to get replacement parts for, and Hot Bodies have a lot of aftermarket parts available. Tamiya has an insane amount of aftermarket parts available for most of the chassis. Yokomo has alot of support, but I think it can sometimes be difficult to get replacement parts for them. Losi has almost no aftermarket support, but replacement parts are easy to get here (US). Personally, I like Hot Bodies and Tamiya.

I hate the sunken offset on my wheels, wonder if i can mount em backwards, make up some hex or something to put on the backside

Those are your best bet for import style bodies. If you're looking for something performance/race oriented, then proline is the way to go.

my ta02
i broke a body post a while back.. dunno where the hell imma find one , probably ebay.. and i ruined the plastic gear box from being too lazy to remove the motor when i sprayed it.. oh well.. i think imma take it apart and just paint it red to bring it to look original. Ive had this over 12 years so i kinda like to stick with it and fit it with new electronics.. i bought a novak gts esp about a year or 2 ago.. and mounted all the electronics on the bottom chassis deck and fliped the shocks upside down to lower the cg.. One of the asian dudes at one of the hobby shops thought this was soo cool lol today i hacked the r34 body lol I got the overal chassis lower then typical modded ta02 *as this one from ebay* I been wanting to get all the alloy suspension pieces
