I love the mini. it WAS probably the only fwd car I lusted over. Now enter the Fiat. I find myself torn between the two. The rental car guys wouldnt let me test the fiat base model. He said he was doing me a favor. The next week they removed it from their fleet. Silly "Muricans" think that the tiny Fiat would be comparable to their civic or for some reason their SUV. Dumbasses, its a tiny city car. Not meant to haul all your shit AND your dog. I's still dying to try the fiat base version.

Anyways I am drooling for someone who isnt bias to do a shootout between the cars, Base vs base. S vs Abarth. Slalom, drag, touge,and a rally-x

fuck what are they waiting for, I would pay money to see an hr segment on this.

Having driven both, I think I prefer the fiat. They're both pretty similar, but I mostly prefer the way the fiat drives and I like the interior layout better.

I still haven't driven an abarth yet, but I really want to.

I keep hearing people say the fiat drives smoother for a smaller car. I don't know what that means per say, but if its like you don't feel alll the bumps, that's good.
I drove a Versa recently and the road pulled me to and fro.

My cousin got the Fiat500 a few months back in Dallas. They gave her complete KBB (or texas equivalent) for her shitty Audi and gave her free oil changes for life. I got to drive it myself and its pretty nice. Short wheel base, easy to maneuver, tight turning radius, and nice acceleration to boot. The instruments could be designed and placed better but for 16k, you can't go wrong.

She got the Pokeball/Toadstool version of Redtop on white.

My mom was in love with a fiat convertible. The daytona fiat dealership wouldn't budge on the price. It was one thing that it was a neat tiny car. It's another to have $700 dealer prep, $400 window tinting, and other $300 in various crap. MSRP is strong for these cars. Padding MSRP with another $1500 in shit is ludicrous. She came back 2 months later and they still had the same car with options and still wouldn't budge. She bought a subaru instead. Totally turned off by the fiat dealership. The car maybe nice but the dealerships are treating them like smart cars. Something to boost the bottom line and increase traffic but not as a serious business. Predict smart and fiat will leave within 5 years.

The window tint was questionable in it's existence. If it was tinted. It was tinted to california levels.

Needless. The car MSRP's at 22.9 base. The options of the "pearl paint" and window tint pushed the car to 23.8k. Then there was a $700 destination charge. A $700 dealer fee. Now you're at 25.2k before sales tax. Throw another $1700 in sales tax, $100 in doc fee's and $200 on tag fee's on top of all of that and you really start to question your sanity. "I'm going to spend 27+k on a fiat 500?!?"

The thing gets 32mpg highway with an automatic and has a timing belt with a 60k mile replacement window.

Now then if you goto the subaru dealership, you can get an outback which is 3x the car with a CVT that gets 30mpg highway, no timing belt for about 2k more. Unless you need the smallness of the car it's just not competitive.

Never driven a base Mini, only a modded R53 S, and Mom's JCW (6 speed auto, 208hp). I can't imagine the Fiat being as much fun as the MCS or JCW, but I still want to try one out.

All these types of cars (New Beetle, 500, Mini) are being marketed to women or men with over bearing gfs/wives. When you see a dude driving a 500, Mini or Beetle, you can already tell who wears the pants in the relationship.

I sort of liked the countryman auto that I test drove. I just can't really get into driving an automatic.
I'll be trying out a 6 speed all4 tomorrow.

I can appreciate everything Mini has done for the past 10 years. Brands evolve, and I'm ok with that. If I had room in my life right now, I'd be putting a deposit on a Mini Coupe tomorrow.

I love the new beetle as well. I wouldn't have any problem rocking a new beetle tdi. Hell, my mom used to have a 2000 GLS. I actually took my driver test in it. It was fun if you can get past the "image". I'm not too worried about that shit, but many dudes are. Bummer for them.
