Nice build and surely a fun setup. I'd love to feel a 1jz in a s-chassis versus an overweight jzx100.
And is the intercooler piping direct to the intercooler? Like you can't remove any intercooler piping because it's welded to the engine?

and yes, my IC piping is welded onto my throttle body.. The reason for that is because if you look at usual setups for 1j's in s chassies, there is a crazy 90 degree angle at the throttle body, mine isn't soo aggressive. If i want to take my IC piping off, i would have to unbolt the throttle body, which is no big deal. |

my engine finally runs! before i drive myself crazy trying to find out why there is no throttle response or idle, would anyone know why its idling like that? its a stock vvti with an AEM ver 2. the only thing that isn't plugged in is the VTC gear, and air temp sensor. I am not going to plug the VVTI gear in until i got in for the tune. otherwise what else could cause this..? TPS, firing order, cylinder pair? from my understanding the pair is 1-6 2-5 3-4 any advice would be great! |

all im waiting for now is to finish up the fuel lines, putting AN fittings on my hardlines.. i don't trust putting braided PTFE lines over my unflared fuel lines.. it almost sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
all i need is to do that, then its ready for a tune!!!! VIDEO OF THE IDLE! MUUUCCCCHHHH smoother. http://s17.photobucket.com/user/timb...1a1e3.mp4.html |

i like the torque down low, and the streetablity of this motor. I am only looking for around 500whp, and this will get me there perfectly.
heres a short little burnout for you guys.. lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv3jjFRSUZ4 |

great build. i'm doing the same, well kind of. anyways, which intercooler is that? also, mind explaining the coolant elimination? did you end up with the honda aem v2? if so, how did that go?

its a powered by max intercooler, and as far as the coolant elimination it's really simple, there are 2 hoses at the bottom of the throttle body, i simply just had them cut out and welded shut, then grinded down.
and the honda AEM v2 works great, my only complain is the long cranking before the motor starts. |

which aem model did you go with? why the long crank times? i'm going standalone as well on mine (66mm single) and am still up in the air on an ecu. it's not often people do vvti 1j's on 240's, so information is hard to find haha.

i went with the AEM 30-6050 I believe. Cranking times are long, probably about 3 - 4 seconds, but i look at that as a positive, as far as lubing the engine up before it fires up.
the 30-6050 is about $1k cheaper than the 1jz aem, and its the same shit, different pinout. |

looks great! nice build so far
what cooling fans will you be using? as I have a mid mount I/c on my s14 1jz also I cant seem to find any fans that will work efficiently that come in such a small size to fit between rad and engine?
