Sad day. R.I.P. Paul.

Doing some of my own investigation... If you look at Google maps at the crash site...

http://goo.gl/maps/DpU4X

You will notice a perfectly intact light pole with the 35 MPH sign attached.

Picture of the same area after the accident. You can clearly see that light pole and sign had been completely knocked out by the impact, ripping it right out of the concrete. They hit that light pole at a high rate of speed and most likely died instantly.

You gotta be fucking kidding me. I'm gonna try real hard not to make judgmental comments about the driver out of respect to the families.

Call me kind of obsessed but yesterday morning before all this happened I was reading into his life and so on. Amazing dude and I credit him and FF for what I am. Call me obsessed with cars, but the first movie started it for me. It's the true reason my dream car has been a R34 for as long as I can remember. That ugly ass silver with bkue stripes. What I'd do to have that sitting in my garage. I remember seeing it at Universal Studios all the time and knowing nothing more then it was Brians car and I loved it. Wish I could have seen it years later when I knew something

Damm, the rear of the car must have stepped out coming around that corner at high speed, spun it.

Its just crazy that the driver who has racing experience, didn't use better judgement about going around that corner.

I see I have a few friends who posted on facebook that they met Paul at a few car events and all say he was a real car enthusiast .

Agreed. From what I've read, he had 8 unremarkable races under his belt racing a Mustang 302 Boss and was a rookie in that series, but had previous experience racing Porsche Cup Cars.

If the accident was caused by some mechanical failure, I might find it easier to understand. But I can find no justification for any driver, much less a Pro driver to be going fast enouogh on the street to cause that kind of damage.

Completely senseless loss of life. Really sad.

He truly was an enthusiast...spotted him a few times at willow for redline TA and at irwindale for formula D

He was just an actor to many...but for those who actually saw him enjoy the spirit of driving made him a real downbtobearth dude.

He's what I call a real actor...didn't do drugs. Didnt Set bad examples. And was a real family man to boot...

We lost a fellow enthusiast...

According to althe BBC, he was the passenger not the driver. It is possible for a car to hit a post just right, where the fas tank is, and have it explode on impact. I have seen it in person with my own eyes, and that driver wasn't speeding at the time.

Anyway, sad for him, his family and friends. I csn only imafine what the pundits will claim from ignorance, probably indicating that the crash was somehow karmic payback for his movie roles. (Lame)

Stay out if you don't care then. People better people than him die everyday, huh? Not saying he was an angel, but he was a pretty good guy with a great rep amongst ppl who know. Are you aware of just how much charity work this guy did to help others?

We'll see how many ppl care about you when you go.

I wish him and his family the best.

He played a big role for some of us car enthusiast creating some memories that we will always look back to.

hate it or love it, their movies brought our community a little closer together at times.

Sure the movies were corny but think about how much the car scene has been influence by them, for better or for worse. I heard someone make the comment earlier that he's like the James Dean or Steve McQueen of our generation. So many people in Hollywood get rich and go buy a Ferrari or something because they have the means to and want to show off their wealth, but Walker was a legitimate enthusiast. Every story I've read of his interactions with people who have met him speak pretty highly of the guy, definitely a down to earth nice guy. He started his own charity foundation and had done a ton to help out a number of charities. In the end he was one of us, shared an interest that we all share, he just happened to have a career that gave him large amounts of exposure so people are more aware of what happened.

^^ this.

its not what he was in the movies, its what he was in reality. you, I, nor anyone on here can say that tuners and the car scene would be the same without the F&F franchise. its not about that though. Paul was like everyone has said, an enthusiast.Thats what the sport needs. its what keeps us together and defines us as a whole. He gave, and devoted himself to a greater good other than himself. if you look at the world today with its selfishness and greed, thats hard to find. hes a damn good guy so I hope everyone just respects that.

we lost a legend. and he'll always be remembered in the community.

What bothers me is that in this picture:

Is that you can see someone clearly standing in front of the car with a phone - either recording or taking pictures of their bodies burning...

Or maybe one of his friends calling the cops? They interviewed them and they said they were first there and they tried

I found out that he died from my buddy who met him when he lived in Santa Barbara down the street from him. He had just dropped acid and was walking to 7/11 and saw him and a beautiful girl standing near the crosswalk. He walked up to him and said "You're Paul Walker, good for you! I'm on acid" and he apparently laughed, shook his hand, and wished my buddy a good time.

By all accounts a good fuckin' ese. Actually got really into cars and never got into any trouble/wasn't a media whore. Fucking love the FTF franchise. The first one got me into imports and I'm sure a lot of you guys as well. Will marathon and drink 40's all day today.
