I have a 89 240sx how can you tell if it's a SE or not??? Does the SE come with Limited slip??? I bought the car used and it has no badges on it.

AFAIK no 89s came with vlsd, and all hatches were SEs, and coupes XE.

and you are quoting a very out of date incorrect faq from socal 240sx.org, just because it was a hatch in 89 did not make it automatically a SE .
There were base models that were hatchs that were not SE . SE's had power windows,bigger swaybars, teardrop wheels, some came with sunroofs , some did not. some came without the rear spoiler , some came without the front se lip spoiler. fact is there was a lot of option delete stuff going on in the 89-90 model years.
In 91 the SE model was more standardized . It came with the sunroof, 7 spoke wheels , rear spoiler, power windows, bigger swaybars.
In 1992 again the option delete came back into play and we saw SE's without sunroofs!! This only happened in 92 thus why 92 se no sunroofs are very sought after. 92 was the only S13 dual cam model year that came SE no sunroof in Fastback. It was also something that was seen in the coupes in 92 as well though there are a few se no sunroof 91 coupes as well.

those faqs on 240sx.org were written back in the day, when they were some members here in socal, who felt they knew everything and had it figured out. They used some option sheets they obtained from one Nissan dealer as the basis for their reasoning.
Since then, many of us here in socal have noted there were mistakes, but the main moderator at socal240sx.org choose to leave those up because the people that wrote them were his buddies . Call it old school nepotism to and effect.

If dave is the guy posting above I too have a rather lackluster sentiment towards him.

FACT: ALL Zenki 89-90 Fastback were SE. Regardless of Amendities or Luxuries.
FACT: All Coupes were XE "above."
FACT: NO US Bulit S chassis in the duration (89-90) had Factory VLSD/ABS.
FACT: Anything that came close anything like a Special package was the "Sports Package" it was offered through Nissan in limited numbers (I have one) I have been told they came in TH1 Only (one of the first and more rare GTR colors) but others claim they come in other colors as well.

I do not have an affirmation but i do know that they offered them with Teardrops/Power everything/AC/Better sound system/Supposed stiffer springs/Single chrome exauhst and 205/60 Tires and an option of non aero.

Hmm, there is so much more carp to talk about these year cars, but I have Bio on the mind. Spent most of my early teens researching these cars until I found mine.
