KA Wierd Noise....

While idling car soudns great but when accelerating it makes like a ticking noise...almost like something is lose or something hitting the fans. Could it be the lifters on my car?
I have a 96 kouki with a ka24de...
thank you.

Is it a 96 or a 97? You said 96 Kouki which is contradictory to one another.

If its a 1996 look into removing the upper timing chain guide underneath the valve cover.

No no no, the timing chain kit is like $500 last I remember.

Just remove the upper timing chain guide, 2 12mm bolts if I remember correctly.

If you're nervous about doing this on the MCS14(Kouki) the MC stands for Minor Change and one of the changes is that they removed this upper timing guide.
