So my friend has an '89 S13 (with a rebuild I believe, new battery, alternator..) and he's asking why when he fills up his gas tank with like $30, his fuel gauge doesn't go up to the halfway point (which it should, it does for mine.)

When he's in first gear and getting to the friction point, there's a rattle that's evident in 1st and second but not in third gear. What could this mean?
