Wait, I don't understand something. You must be a max of like $500 (if at all) away from having this thing run like a clock. Why not just finish it up, give it a good thrashing over the summer and then call it done when the leaves start falling again?

I'm holding off a few months to see how things go. As soon as the shit weather clears, I will be taking it back to the dyno for final tweaks and some spring/summer fun. However, push comes to shove, this car is FAR less important than a happy life Quote:
Tiegen, I've got a few things you may find interesting... Will do when/if I sell out. Money sucks... but again, my future and my family are my priority... The car is at a point where it can be enjoyed with little/no money dropped into it at the moment... So for now I'm holding out to see how things go.

Good news... Not parting out, but I AM selling a few things off that I won't be needing.
- HKS Hipermax Performer coilovers - Z32 TT 5-spd tranny (my spare, not the one on the car ) - URA's front side markers (brand new in box) ...and maybe a few other odds/ends I don't need or won't use anytime soon.

Mike, you broke my heart when you said you might partout your car.......
I guess it is just natural to want to throw it all away after so much in favor of something else. Everybody feels that way sometimes. You better finish this car. I better finish my car too. /vanishes into thin air |

Is that like an Arab thing, Apu? My Lebanese GF does the same thing every so often... weird lolStill working on it- Drove the other day... While underneath tightening the alternator belt a bit, I 'fFound a nice coolant leak under the intake. Can't figure it out- used 3-ply silicone heater hose on the whole system; and pressures are never very high in my retardedly-overkilled cooling system. Slammed with research papers and other life-happenings; but hope to get back at it soon.

Well, it's been a while huh???
The coolant leak was one of the rubber caps I used to cover the nipples (lol nipples) where the TB coolant lines used to be... Easy peasy. Also completely drained the system, switched to distilled water, a bottle of Water Wetter & some green stuff for effect. Went ahead & kept the coilovers... Spare Z32 tranny & URA's markers still for sale. ANYWAY... so I got the car all together... the weld on my HKS outlet gave out again, so I ordered a Tomei outlet that backordered until recently... Wanting to get tuned, I bought a $60 Egay special... Should have been FINE for the trip to Atlanta... Car ran BEAUTIFULLY the whole trip... but about 100mi out from the destination, the BRAND NEW outlet failed the exact same way!!! After driving thru the night, TS let us use their back pad to get under there & yank it... Had it welded, put it all back together- Car fired up & ran like a champ for all of about 5min then BOOM! 3 of the 4 exhaust mani runners gave out. I was like: They asked me if I wanted to take it off or have them fix it... At this point, Brad & I had been up for 36+hrs... so I told them I'd reschedule... then went to the hotel, went to Hooters & got drunk, then drove home the next day in defeat... Car drove like a dream all the way home- except for 'tap tap tap' under load bc of the exhaust leakage. Driving the Smokies was fun- even with lack of exhaust gases to spool! So I get home, wondering why I am shitting outlet elbows... I use the tranny bracketing/rubber dampeners religiously now, motor/tranny mounts match (Nismo), everything is tight. The ONLY other thing I could think of was that I switched my midpiping hangers to urethane- wondering if they put too much tension on the system... so I switched them back to OEM rubber- Exhaust is still tight, but much less tension on the piping. Still not 100% confident that the urethane hangers were the issue, I sourced out a DP with a flex section & bung for my wideband: Still really hasppy with the OG downpipe- still very clean & shiny, been going strong since 2005... when FRSport was a 2-bit eBay store :-) I hear the best location for the sensor is 18-36" from the turbine... The new DP may have it back a hair further, but still not bad. Tomei elbow got here.. and all I can say is OMG WOW!!! It's huge, and VERY well made! The manifold. Definitely a learning experience. I was very happy that all the preventative maintenance and setup for work-friendliness paid off... Be that as it may, pulling the turbine was a mutherfucker... As big as it is, I pretty much had to remove everything between the master cylinder & PS pump/AC condenser to get it out. Even then, I scratched the shit out of my freshly painted bay Note the #1 runner- 3 & 4 were both cracked pretty much the circumference of the runner welds at the flange... Unfortunately, this was just shitty luck... Every manifold has a service life- mine reached it at the most inopportune time possible lol So I ordered a new manifold... Instead of the one I ordered, they send me one that completely doesn't fit! Before anyone flips out, I will go ahead and say it... I swear by my SS Autochrome manifolds... The one I had lasted close to 9yrs, was very well made & also has the big 48mm runners. For 3-4x more, you can get a Tomei; which will likely crack well before you get your $500 worth. For $900+, you can get the Full Race that comes with a lifetime guarantee and you will never need another mani again... So where is the middle ground? I looked at Full Race- their bottom mount mani is AWESOME!!! BUT I have no desire to use custom brake lines or rething any of my existing architecture at this time. SInce my SS Autochrome (XS Power) lasted so long- and even Andy said it was very well made for a $120 part... I decided to ask them to exchange the one they sent me for the one I ordered (OEM replacement). I sent a pic of my engine bay to illustrate what the one I want should've looked like. In return, they offer me a 100% refund in exchange for installing & providing reviews of this: Basically a Full-Race knockoff that plugs and plays with no customizing needed... 3mm schedule steel (304), argon purged welds (?- forgot the correct terminology), and lifetime guarantee... Not sure what retail price is going to be, but it looks like it is going to be cool! Once I get it tomorrow/Monday, expect a preliminary review. Well, that's all I got for now~ Mike

Yes. I'm doing my review here and on 3 other forums if you'd like more complete info.
New manifold went in nicely... Zero exhaust leaks and back on the road. Pics of it installed: Gonna try to hurry up and get her tuned before the next damned thing goes wrong lmao!
