S13 Pop headlight help???
OK, I need some help. I'm working on my 93 Coupe and I can't figure out what is wrong with the headlights. They are stuck in the up position right now and I can get them to go down. When I press the headlight control button next to the gauge cluster I can hear the relay clicking, but nothing happens. I thought that by some crazy chance both motors were burnt up, but I hooked up one of my headlights from my hatch and when I turned the lights on it popped up. Now it won't go back down! What could be the problem???

swap relays from your hatch?
if that doesn't work, break out the voltmeter.

That's what I was just thinking. Guess I will try tomorrow when there's light out.
Well, since I'm thinking about it. Can you fix a relay, or do you have to buy another????

Ok, I tried swapping relays with my hatch and the same relay keeps clicking regardless of what relay you replace it with. What does this mean?
Oh, and I've checked for interferneces and I can see any. Also, the pop up I used off the hatch wasn't even attchaded to the body when it wouldn't go back down. It was just laying across the radiator support.

Were they ever working before? Make sure that the brown wire is not cut behind the headlight push button. (top left on dash piece) That wire is responsible for the headlight retracting. Some people cut it to perform the sleepy eye mod. It could also be your combination switch (switch that has the turn signals on it). Sounds like you have a short somewhere causing the relays to react the way they are. Also, make sure nothing is in the way of the headlights folding down. Sounds stupid but hey, we all forget stupid shit now and then. You could also replace those. Make sure the headlight motors are grounded. They should be a little wire that grounds the motor to the bracket. Let us know how it goes...GL

I wasn't considering the combination switch, that would most likely be the problem. Right now my dash lights aren't turing on because of a short in the combination switch. (I believe) How hard is it to pull the combination switch and replace it. I tried replacing one on a 95 GMC Jimmy a few years back and in was a major PITA. I had finally take it to a shop to replace it because I didn't have all the right tools.
