On the clutch pedal for an S13, is there any other part needed for the pedal return?
I have the pedal, bracket, and return spring.
Tried getting in touch with my buddy at the Nissan dealer, but they're closed until monday.

Basically, my clutch pedal goes to the floor, even after bleeding, and won't return.
It has a heinous amount of spring tension.

Car is a 1991 Coupe KA24DE undergoing a 5spd swap.

did this happen after the bleed? did you remove the clutch damper? if not, did you bleed properly?

It's bled properly. No clutch dampner.
There's entirely too much spring tension on the clutch pedal itself.
It's not an issue in the hydraulics.

So the only parts on the clutch pedal neccesary for the swap are the pedal, bracket, and return spring?

Do you have the spring on backwards? It isn't entirely obvious how it works until you see one function in front of you(hooked up correctly).

I have NO stock return spring on mine and it will naturally sit at the engagement point(have a small linear spring I added to actually pull it up to the top of the travel and not damp the feeling like the stock one).

So try pulling the spring and see what happens. If it's still on the floor you have a hydraulic issue.

Could you possibly post a picture for me of the spring?
I've looked at pictures of the pedal, and keep seeing about3 different ways its on.
I would hope its not a hydraulics problem, as the slave & master are brand new and oem.
Have an aftermarket line though...

leaks? check your lines for leaks! check the master cylinder for fluid level.

I had a similar problem. The night before a drift event I went to bleed my clutch and the pedal woould not return. It turned out that the 20 year old clutch master cylinder was toast. I took it apart because I wanted to know what happend and the little rubber bushing that pushes the fluid to the slave was torn all to HELL. I would taka the MC off and inspect it. its a pretty simple job.

Check the master, also check try adjusting the rod on the master cylinder...

Brand new master cylinder, brand new slavce cylinder, brand new clutch line, brand new pedal/bracket/return spring.
All oem.
No leaks, master cylinder is generating pressure.
I'm having an issue with the mechanical fulcrum point on the pedal itself.
