function and form coilovers

I've heard of these but wanted opinions. Seems like its too good of a deal. Was looking into fortune auto, BC, stance and came across these. Also never did see any real review of the newer Isis HR Pro. But whats the deal on these? So far fortune auto tops my list because of available replacement parts and rebuildable but would like more input. Thanks

- their name suck
- someone calling himself "n°1" usually isn't
- i can't see any indication of damping/rebound graph
- i can't see spring rate
- dual tube sucks
- i want dampers. not dampeners on my coilovers.

imho just another random crap made by the same white brand maker selling its stuff to isis, megan racing, emusa and the like.

Fortune autos are damn good for their price, i don't regret getting some. They are a bit better than tein mono. I'd say the 500/510 are the best "bang for your bucks" if you are looking for coilovers that actually work.
The guys are pretty nice too, they have different hydraulics for different uses (drag, street, occasional race, full race). They offer swift spring option (imho not worth it as the option is the price you will pay for swift spings separately). Their stock springs are not bad.
Tell them your needs and they will tell you what hydraulic and spring rate to use. They DO dyno match their dampers - you can also ask for a full dyno sheet for every adjustment for around 60$ per coilover, if you are looking for an absolute perfect match.

Basically, they know their stuff.

Of course, you will find better coilovers. But not at their price tag. Can't say i have been able to find better under the 1600/1700$ price tag.

Ride comfort is good too. I am running 9k/7k springs on my S13, my spine suffers less than with the previous springs i used on a low quality coilover (tried 5/4 , 6/5, 7/5, 7/6)

Great feedback man. I've been looking for coilover reviews and you of course get so much misinformation that researching is more confusing then anything. It's hard to sift through the bullshit of so many people that are just happy to get their first set of coilovers. I have myself never bought coils but know it's easy to give a good review just on looks and the fact you're excited to finally start modding the car that the review is not useful. I compare it to someone who got their first blowjob. Yeah it's awesome you got a blowjob but how do you know the chick was even good. Even a meh blowjob feels good but you have little or nothing to compare to. Sorry for the reference but I see so many coilover reviews that fit this description. I just don't want to buy $800 coils only to eventually want $1500 coils a year later when the shit ones blow. But at the same te I bought the car for $700 and $1200 coils will double what I got into it already.

But fortune seemed to have the most useful reviews. Still have yet to see any review from anybody that bought Isis other than right after they bought them. Not 6-12 months down the road

I have these on my s13.
Wow!! The price drop so much!
I bought these like 2-3 years ago for $900.00 on sale price at the time.

They are good coil overs, the ride is a bit stiff, and bumpy, they kinda feel as bumpy like JIC FLTa2. For that price I would deff pick them up, if I where you.

I have had a few coil over set ups in the past.

-JIC flta2: really stiff, really bumpy for daily driving, but they are legit for track purposes.dont recommend for daily.

-Tein type flex: these where probably my favorite. Not too stiff, really agressive when they needed to be. Comfortable enough for daily driving. Really fun coil over, and was just never dissapointed.

-function and form type 2: I have these right now, they are actually pretty good! The quality of these are legit, they look similar to the Tein set up.
Just over all good craftsmanship. They are pretty bumpy though, even on the softest setting.
They perform just as good as most top name coilovers. Not daily friendly though. I like smooth ride feeling.
$900

Overall I highly recommend these coilovers, and for that price you can't beat it!

Yeah looking for good daily ride on soft setting and to stiffen up on firmer settings. want lower stance but not slammed. Functionality is important hence all the research.

I track my S13, not with a"drift slut yo" attitude, and i own it since 2006. I have already bought worse coilovers than FAs. Also, if you actually happened to read my post, i gave you a clear reference from tein to compare.

These are also facts :
seller does not provide any ACTUAL damping, rebound and spring rate information. He does not know what a dampener is. It uses twin tube, which is a cheap and quite not effective design, so not something you would use as a selling point, unless you don't know what it means.

Basically, the seller does not know what he is selling, which means it is a generic white brand crap coilover.

So yeah, i somewhat know what i am talking about. These are crap. For 700$, you get crap, and thats it, no matter how much you want to believe the opposite. It does not matter that there is a striked high price either next to it. It is cheap crap, because at that price tag you never get quality.

Same goes for your cheap car. You got it cheap, and it is a piece of junk that you are going to spend thousands on it to make it work correctly. Reality is harsh, eh ?

Of course if all you care is street credz and how low the car can get - you already shown that you could go pretty low when someone does not answer what you wanted to hear, no doubt you want the car at the same ride height - then by all mean, buy some cheap crap suspension, and please proceed to remove yourself from the gene pool without taking someone with you.

I wasn't being a smartass when I said good advice. I really liked your advice. I was talking about other research I've done on reviews from different forums. I know being straight up and giving an actual compliment in an import community is unheard of before. I'm 39 and these are actually going on my sons s13. So I'm mature and genuine in my statement and compliment on your feedback. Sorry you understood it differently than I meant it. I am leaning mostly towards Fortune autos based on most of reviews being detailed with plenty of long term feedback.

Just cause I got the car for $700 from a retired old man who's a friend that couldn't get in and out of it anymore doesn't mean it's a piece of junk. Like I said I'm sorry you misread my statement. Or maybe I wasn't clear. Either way no need to go on the attack. My 14 year old son negotiated for it and bought it with his own money. I then owed him some money cause I bought some parts for my jeep on a Sunday and didn't have time to hit the bank. So I'm paying him back and then some for his birthday by buying him coils. And even though he's 14 he knows enough about cars to understand suspension geometry and hates the overly negative stupid low camber pieces of shit. Ice restored old jeeps and muscle cars and own an s14 but haven't done coils before. No need for the assumptions and attitude. I'm not the general stupid kids asking what coils go super low yo. I want to slam my car on the ground cause I think it looks cool and want the ride to feel like prison rape

Sorry then. I am french and the "you" usage is different, i can't get used to this. I did read your answer as very aggressive, like the ones i usually get when posting this.

Now that it is said, there is still something you are missing; the more you lower it by shortening coilovers, the less it is going to handle, even with quality coilovers. Lowering an S chassis promotes toe steer, bump steer and underground roll center. You can't make it handle without correcting that. It will be twitchy and all over the place while rolling more than stock with the same spring rate.

If you want to go lower the proper way, get lowering knucke kits. They relocate the wheel bearing upper, meaning the car goes lower and the suspension model does not change. But the price tag is different, and you still need coilovers to handle.
