Time for an upgrade in digi cam's. &nbsp; What camera would you recommend thats with in a resonable price? &nbsp;I have no need for the latest and greatest just something that takes clean pics <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I like Sony Digi Cams the best IMO.

Check out their line of camera and see what you like, anything over 2megapixels will exceed what your looking for as for quality.

http://www.amazon.com/exec....5464752

I have the 505 Digi Cam that takes 3.3mgpixels and the thing is badass.

Check Dealtime.com for best prices on whatever camera you choose and also maybe check ebay for some good deals.

Working at Ritz Camera I could suggest a few.....

Nikon Coolpix 885 or 995 - 3.3 megapixel camera with a lot of features . The 995 is also a swivel camera. Sharp pictures.... and I mean sharp. Oh, and has an atmospheric lens glass thing that is supposed to be pretty good.

Cannon S4(I think that's what its called)- 4 megapixel camera in roughly the same price range I think it is a little more expensive. Takes great pictures and the color is fantastic.

Minolta Dimage X or the s404- New line of digital cameras. I believe the Dimage X is a 2 megapixel camera where the better s404 is a high end 3 or 4. &nbsp;I like the Dimage X for its sheer size but it is only a 2 megapixel camera so.....

The Panasonic Lumix series isn't bad as well. I myself haven't used it but from word of mouth it doesn't seem like a bad option.

Then there is the fuji camera series which again I do not know much about but I have heard good things about the 2800.

oops, forgot about the 775. I like the little night feature on that camera that allows you to take pictures.... at night... w/o the flash and it comes out great. I think that the Nikon camera is the D-1x or something like that, that can use Nikon 35mm lenses.

yes the night feature kicks ass but only if the image you want is lit up to a degree. nevertheless its a good camera for the price i got it <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

i have a sony dsc-p30 it costs around 250 new 1.3 megapixels. &nbsp;Look on ebay for some good deals. &nbsp; If you find one with-out some cords you can always go bitch at your local sony place and they usually give them to you for free or will have them shipped to you. Just a little comparison a 35mm camara takes pictures at about 4.0 megapixels (thats what i was told).

Nikon D1X is about $5000. Since ca18guy didn't ask for a digital SLR, I'm guessing that's beyond his budget for a new digital camera. =P All digital SLRs that I know of with interchangeable lenses are well over $1000.

Will you be printing your pictures? If so, how big do you plan on printing them? If you don't plan on printing the pics and will use the pictures only on the computer, 1 megapixel is enough. For making 4"x6" prints, a 2 megapixel camera is enough. An 8"x10" print will require a 7 megapixel camera. (This is for printing at 300 dpi, which is the minimum dpi you should print at for a sharp image. You can print a 1 megapixel image as an 8"x10", but it would be at about 120 dpi, which will either come out blurry or pixelated, depending on how you print.)

I'd recommend a camera that uses CompactFlash for its memory. I believe it's used by more devices than any other type of memory card used by digital cameras. Also, it isn't ridiculously small or thin like MemoryStick or SmartMedia.

Compact is nice but don't go too compact. Canon PowerShot Digital Elph and Minolta Dimage X are tiny but think about how difficult it would be to hold the camera and use the controls on them (and how you'd look like a giant when holding one of those <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>). Consider the camera's ergonomics.

Also, you might want a camera that uses batteries that are easy to find. Some digital cameras come with their own type of rechargable battery which you won't be able to find in almost any store. They're no good because once the battery's out of power, you won't have a spare. If you do have a spare battery ordered from the manufacturer, you probably don't have a third one if both batteries are dead. Digital cameras can use up batteries very quickly if you leave the LCD display on and shoot photos continuously (like on vacations), and you don't always have the opportunity to recharge them. The good thing about cameras that use conventional batteries is that you can easily get replacements.

If zoom is important to you, make sure you look at the optical zoom and ignore the digital zoom when comparing cameras. When the camera goes beyond its optical zoom and into its digital zoom, the image becomes all blurry because the camera's computer is guessing what the image should look like. (Like enlarging a picture in Photoshop, but with lower quality.)

To make your search even simpler, stick to Nikon or Canon when it comes to digital cameras. If you want something below $400, look into one of the Canon PowerShot models.

I have a Canon PowerShot A30 (1.3 megapixels). What I want is a Nikon D-100. ^_^

Lemme know if you have any questions. If I don't know the answer, I can probably find out.
