S14 Circuit Sports Hood Damper kit..ideas??
Just installed dampers on my car and the hood wont go down At first I only had the drivers side on and when I tried to lower the hood it wouldn't budge. I took the damper off and tried to compress both of them by hand.. but they wont budge AT ALL.. I called the company I bought them from they suggested mounting both of them at the same time to see if they will work together but still no luck.. I'm stumped. Has anyone mounted these?/Had any issues with them?? I've twisted, pulled, pushed, and even tapped them with a rubber mallet :/ Urghh!!
Any ideas/input welcome Thanks

Trust me it's bullshit. I tried damper kits(NRG and CS) and also tried Autozone kits with custom made brackets. They don't work and I have a small damage on my hood. DON'T DO THIS MOD. In winter, dampers go bad and won't hold the hood anymore. I've replaced 2 sets so far and put original hood prop back on.

how are you installing it? the fat end on top or bottom? i have it install on my car the wrong direction first time and it would not go down. make sure the skinny end on top and fat end on bottom.
here is a pic install on my car for reference.

When you got them were they easy to compress off the car? We tried compressing them by hand and they wont go in AT ALL.. feels super glued lmao. I am disappoint... someone actually did try putting these on our cars... and you failed at searching. double disappoint. http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/180723...amper-s13.html ^Yeahh thanks but this has nothing to do with the issue I'm having. Mine fit perfectly with the hood closed They were a gift to me sooo I'm gonna try to use them

yea instructions fail. yea they will be stiff and you wont be able to compress them by hand. eventually when they get broken in, they will soften up. I follow the instructions direction first time installing and ran into the same problem as you.
switch it around and everything solve.

Wow.. so I called FRSport and they were more than willing to replace them for me.. I drove down there to show them what the issue was. The guy at the desk tried to compress them as well with no success :/! He went in the back and pulled out a brand new set hoping they would work better, BAM.. wouldn't compress either! So he grabbed a set for s13 and there was slight improvement but still very very stiff. We tried the set I brought in again and slowly but surely it began to compress..
So in the end they DO work, just needs a seriously large sized guy to pump them for like an hr before they work like they're supposed to.. Live n learn I suppose I like em, they look good and work well but I'll be sure to keep my stock hood prop around just incase.. [:
