-=| 98' Silver Moss Project |=-
Hello! my name is AJ and have been a member in these forums for quite some time now. I told myself with my next project!!! a build thread is a must to let the community see my blood, sweat, and slave money go to a good cause. My first car that I regret selling was a 95' base model that I converted into a kouki and installed a notchtop into it. The reasons why I sold my first 240 can turn into a book to be honest with me having 2 bikes at one point and almost dying from an accident. Long story short, I have been searching for a clean Shell but came across a working car that I couldn't pass up!!! So, let the fun begin!!!
I was in the market for a JDM vehicle and few state side FD's but I ended up buying a 1998 Nissan 240sx LE -Slicktop - Silver moss ~ Bone stockish / minor mods ~ Factory MT ~ roughly 200k miles on chassis / motor estimate due to cluster not working and stopped at 172k. The transmission is grinding a little and the Motor is blowing white smoke here and there.... which I think both are ready to go! In my first 240 I did an SR swap with upgrades and this car I want to go with something more fun and aggressive!!! Little more info about the car mods below; Current Mods:
Went with 2JZ From an Astrio. 30-40k Miles on it. See below for Pics. Enjoy the pics! Front Rim/Rotor/Caliper Rear Rim/Rotor/Caliper More to come!!!! Last edited by 240sex_s14; 10-05-2017 at 12:04 PM.. |

Haha, I couldn't pass up the deal on this with the shape it was in. Well the chassis of course, not so much of the engine/trans though. I have big plans for this bad girl here! "Detail" is the key to this build. You know what they say...Go big or go Home hahaha.

While driving around I felt my brakes not gripping anymore and I went ahead and got some new rotors / pads. Got a sweet deal on the rotors which was $50 for front pair. Car was too low for my jack so I had to improvise and get this bad boy up in the air. Bricks...cant never go wrong with bricks! As I was taking off the rotors I noticed my SS brake lines were loose and a shiny part was glaring at me...Now I need to order a new set as I feel this is unsafe. Anyways, I got the rotors and pads off...and looks like the previous owner used some shitty pads and the rotors were glazed like glass. Now that I got some stuff on the way for replacement and also replaced...it came out looking good As Of 9/24/2017 I stole (J.K) my friends pickup truck to pick this bad boy up! I had NO cherry picker at the moment and got home late AF! so I had once again improvise and used two dollies with a tie down lined up with the driveway...it was low enough to yank the engine onto the dolly... With the right position it landed perfectly!!! More to come as I ordered some parts! and took my car to get appraised for repaint. Stay tuned for the next set of stuff!!!! Thanks! The 95-96 Color is called "Champagne Gold - Paint Code/ EM1" The 97-98 Color is called "Silver Moss - Paint Code/ KR5" The only color that comes close to the Silver moss color in the Nissan family would be off the Skyline R34 "Millennium Jade - Paint Code/ JW0" it has more of a green tint. |

Clean car, should've bought different cams though. You'll neee springs to go with those cams FYI.

Thank you! I was really up in the air with what cams to go with really? I've read a bunch of people swapping cams to the 264's and not having any problems with the stock springs. When people swapped to the 272/272 cams that's when the problems started. |

All BC cams to my knowledge need to be degreed to get the cam to run right. With that said any aftermarket cam needs to be "optimized" for best results. Also, I just paid closer attention and you have Jz, not a Nissan engine, so they "may" not be as bad as their Nissan counter parts. However, usually the errors aren't limited to one manufacture.

With those cam sizes, it's still considered "drop in" but it's recommend to do the springs since "you're already there". That's from my understanding of JZ engines anyways...

This week I should be able to get some more done to the car and get the front end ready for primer and paint. I should also be looking into Cut / Splice / Solder / Heat shrinking the front fuse box to my glove compartment.

Hello, Hello! Hopefully everyone had a good New Years and Xmas!
Started off my year with a cold but its alright...The sickness set me back on working on the car but its coming together slowly but surely. -See Below- Pulled the Wiring Harness out, This weekend going to undo and redo the harness to the exact spot I want it inside the car. I ended up removing the Battery Tray and found a tad bit of rust. Which I sanded and hit it with some Primer. Before: After : Now to Finish Painting Engine Bay and Harness! Wish me luck! Stay posted!
