jersey not-so-fresh build
So I have a 93 s13 that started life as any normal 240sx would. Then I got my hands on it. I bought the car in february 2012 from some old man who had owned it for like 15 years. The car was completely stock and super clean. Basically no rust.
Heres where it is today Unfortunately I suck at taking pictures while working on the car so this is gonna be a rough recap of the past 3 years and the somewhat slow progress its made. I'll be taking alot more pictures to keep this thread updated. So first time i had the car out on my own i got pulled over doing 70 in a 35. So from then on i learned nothing and proceeded to be an asshole on the street like your average 17 year old kid that thinks he's the new DK. I ended up messing up the front of the car so i did a silvia front swap. Then i lowered it on stnace gr+ coilovers and put it on some shitty 14" datsun wheels that i thought were the coolest thing ever I painted the front to match, got some ridiculous 15's with crazy offsets and proceeded to destroy my fenders spray painted the car blue, which actually didnt come out TOO bad I drove my first event at clubloose august of 2013. I had been going to watch drifting there since i was 12. My older cousin used to take me with him all the time. Ever since the first time i witnessed drifting i knew it was what i wanted to do. The feeling you get while drifting just doesnt compare to anything else and i love it. Anyway the offseason of 2014-2015 I did a good amount of work to the car with help from a couple people. The ka was still running strong so i continued my suspension upgrades. PBM s14 knuckles, lower control arms, rear drop knuckles, toe arms, subframe risers, custom cat back exhaust with boso tips that i cut off soon after and welded aspec blast pipes on, s14 5 lug swap, a couple 17x10s, fiberglass 30mm front fenders, VIS aero and some other little shit. The car performed great all season up to now. I took it out for the season to save some money for plans for next season. BIG PLANS. But anyway heres some pics from opening moves at clubloose I repainted the car with some help from the gf. She did a better job than me continued drifting tapped the bank. This scared the shit out of me lmao but it was an experience and i can say ive done it. But it needs to be fixed got a shot from stancenation while at los goonies' panda junction. Totally fan girl'd out over this one haha got some vinyl cut and continued drifting up until now and now the car is on jackstands, with that crazy stock ka out. I dont know how it lasted as long as it did but it served me well. Almost sad to see it go, almost. and whats going in for next season redtop s13 sr gt2871r megan manifold act street light flywheel everything else as of now is pretty much stock. I'm still in the process of collecting some parts for it so its not quite ready to drop in yet. Stay tuned for more updates. I'll try to keep this thread as up to date as possible as long as my laptop continues to work. thanks for reading Last edited by NJs13_1993; 10-30-2015 at 11:23 PM.. |

Update #1
I bought the SR from a friend in long island. He had pulled it for a motor with aftermarket internals so i was pretty sure the motor wasnt broken. The compression numbers were good, the motor was super clean, and he threw in a bunch of parts to help with my swap. He also included a long block with a rod through the side that proved more useful than i thought. The only problem with the motor was that it kept spitting out front main seals. Weird, but i figured it wouldnt be a big deal. So i planned on replacing the front cover/oil pump, and its a good thing i did. Turns out someone had the crank pulley off the motor at some point and ended up not lining it up with the keyway and pushed it straight into the oil pump gear. So now i needed an oil pump gear, and i had one on the broken long block. the motor as apart as it got. Everything inside looked like it was in good shape. And the damage. It broke the front cover and the oil pump and the gear. the crank was still good luckily. And the fancy new OEM front cover So the motor went back together smoothly. I got basically all the rest of my parts for it. Mishimoto rad, intercooler, silicone rad hoses, and catch can TurboXS manual boost controller N62 maf STI 550 injectors OEM nissan exhaust/turbo gaskets CXracing intercooler pipes underdrive water pump pulley Spec stage 3 clutch Megan tubular manifold 2871 with steel braided lines And these SWEET touge factory valve cover nuts I had an SR bell housing laying around for a while so i swapped it onto my KA trans. The swap was pretty easy and it put me one step closer to a running car. I love the look of a nice tucked engine bay. I'm always lurking on the wire tuck thread. I decided to tackle the job of tucking my body harness under the dash. So many wires, so much solder. I stripped out a decent amount of useless wires and all the extending of wires that needed to be done was done with wire that i had pulled out of the harness. It came out pretty good I think I resorted to my old ways and was kind of shitty about taking pictures during but i got a couple shots. Heres all the wire i took out heres in the middle of extending and routing all the wires And all the wires and relay boxes in their new home I still have all the wiring to go to the front of the car like the headlights, turn signals, wiper motor, all that shit The car had 2 spots of rust when i bought it on top of the strut towers, so when i got the car home i knocked the surface rust off and jbwelded over it, dumb i know. But i finally got to fix it the right way. Before During, I sprayed it with some duplicolor rust treatment shit that we had laying around the shop so we'll see how it works and after Same thing on the other side. And i stitch welded the shock towers and upper frame rails. Im waiting on the lower frame rails until we straighten the car out. The drivers side frame rail has a nice bend in it thanks to a kiss from the wall. Its definitely repairable. I also relocated my power steering reservoir for the "super duper tucked" look. This is the color im planning for the engine bay. Im really liking the amount of flake Thats all for now. I just got started on the engine harness yesterday so stay tuned for more updates and pictures. Thanks for reading |

I don't know what your refereeing too, and don't really care. It pretty obvious to everyone you like to troll peoples threads and post garbage.

Cool you went on my account and looked at my posts. It is true, I post my opinion alot on this forum, and ask why people do certain things to their cars. Its just how it is. This is just one of many forums I am on. This forum is by far the one that has people post the most retarded shit they do to their cars. So of course im not going to take anything seriously here. On other forums, I help owners get their cars running, give them props for what they do, etc. I would here too if people actually somewhat gave a fuck with what they are doing. |

"Then why do you keep coming back? you think of this place as retarded right?" I enjoy looking at retarded shit. "Again why don't you just stay over in those forums if your so helpful???" It gets boring staying on a specific car forum. "That's funny because if you actually took the time to search you would see that there are tons of threads started on here by people who "give big F$ck's" in what their creating. Im glad you chose the >10% of quality builds. and for some strange reason, I thought you were op. Stupid me. As for OP, good luck man. Hope the car comes out great. I will fallow the thread. |

Update #2
I've been seriously lacking on the updates. I just got my first apartment so I've had my hands full lately. Made lots of progress on the car so I'll bring you all up to speed. I put the motor completely back together. I had my buddy AJ tig weld my oil pick up, trying to eliminate as many problems as possible Got to work on the engine harness, stripped out some shit, added my injector pigtails, and rewrapped the whole thing. I planned to tuck it slightly so I layed the whole thing out on the motor and plugged everything in and wrapped it so it would lay properly. Me and my girlfriend also rescued a puppy. He's a pitbull/lab mix and he's the bomb. First time I brought him to the shop he followed me around the whole time. He wanted to see what I was wiring haha Now that the motor was done and ready to go in and the wiring was pretty much done I got to work on the front end. The drivers side front corner took a nice hit during my first season. Nothing lined up well since. I knew the car was gonna need a tube front for everything to be right. So I dove in head first, having never done anything like this before. Before After At this point I could really see how bent the drivers side rail really was, which I wasn't expecting. The car always drove straight so I didn't wanna take it to a frame shop, it just needed to be straightened out, so I took care of it As ghetto as it looks it actually worked great. The rail definitely isn't perfect but it was mostly cosmetic anyway Before After I love my car low, no matter how much shit my friends give me about the car performing better raised. I'm in this for the style, not to be competitive. So with that in mind I needed as much clearance in the front as possible. So I took the the upper frame rails with my handy dandy cut off wheel I took about 3/4 of an inch out of the frame rail above the highest point of the tire. That should give me plenty of clearance. I plated the side to add some extra strength. Note to self, don't leave dudes with ADD alone with your welder lmao. My buddy mikey put his signature on the plate I plated the bottom to finish it off Next order of business was my tweaked and broken lower rad support. I was considering boxed tubing, but I thought it would be more pleasing to the eye with round tubing to match the rest of the tube front. I played the shit out of the end of the frame rails and had to replace the outside of the drivers side. I found some scrap 1.5 inch roll cage pieces laying around the shop with good angles for me to use. Took me a while to get everything cut and angled right but I'm pretty happy with it. Then I made mounts for the tension rod brackets off the support. Really happy with how it all came out I plated the front of the strut towers, all ready for my down bars Had to wait a while, but a friend bent me some tubes for the down bars, 1.5 inch DOM Plated the top of the frame rail and cut/angled the tubes and welded them in too. Then I painted the bay, which I've wanted to do FOREVER. The bay was so ugly before and now it's slightly less ugly Girlfriend and puppy came to hang out while I was doing this And he wanted to help out I also welded the factory tow hook and lower rad mounts in I've got more to updates in the next post, hold your horses Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by NJs13_1993; 12-08-2015 at 07:28 PM.. |

jersey not-so-fresh build
Update #3
So at this point I wanted the motor in bad! I got the wiring harness on, bolted up the flywheel and clutch. I've got mixed reviews on this spec clutch so we'll see how it holds up for me It took some prying and shaking and cursing but it went in and I got excited like a little kid Continued my financial mistakes and bought this SWEEEEEET pair of SSR's from yomisiu. They look so good Mounted my fenders because I miss my car being in one piece I tried to get as much shit as I could on the motor, I got my rad and hoses mounted to get some ideas for the upper rad support. I also got the fpr mounted, catch can mounted, installed the intercooler pipes and mocked up the cooler. I ordered a t25 kit instead of a 28 kit so I had to order a 45 degree coupler to go from the turbo outlet to the hot pipe. Still waiting on that to come in. But the hot pipe was very obviously sitting too high. The hood wouldn't be able to clear. So I cut about 2 inches off the lower pipe and it sits way better now. I don't have a detailed pic, but here's all the shit installed I'm really excited to have the car so close to running. I pumped out all my regular gas, gotta get some 93 soon. I still have to plumb the catch can, run fuel lines, install my inline coolant temp sensor and housing, make the upper rad support, wire the starter and maf and a couple other small things. It's getting close. Hopefully I'll have more updates soon Thanks for reading Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Small update on the build. I didn't get too many pictures because I was focused on getting the motor running. My valve cover had a L fitting on it instead of the T that I needed. So I made my own
Not the prettiest but it worked for what I needed Finished up some other little shit. Put all my clamps on for the intercooler pipes. I had to get a 45 degree coupler for my hot pipe since I ordered a t25 piping kit for my 2871 Oh well the new coupler worked. Plugged in the maf, finished plumbing my catch can, changed the oil for some good shit And like an idiot I forgot my oil filter wrench, and the hulk tightened the oil filter that was on the motor so that was fun So I hooked my power wire to the starter, connected my battery, primed the oil pump, then reconnected my fuel pump relay and tried to fire it up. I ended up wiring my injectors backwards. Fixed the wiring and IT STARTED! I shut it off and went to restart it and it just kept cranking, wouldn't start. Oh well I'll be on vacation over Christmas and New Years so it's gonna be a while until I figure it out, but I'm just happy it started. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks man! Hoping to have some more updates soon but I'm currently on vacation visiting family in Arizona. I did help my little brother with a 1.6 to 1.8 swap in his Miata. Little bit of custom fab and some wiring. He's got a harbor freight welder so none of the fab was too great haha but here's some pics to keep you guys occupied for a little bit until I get back to my car When I got there he had the motor out already. We did a little bit to the new motor like resealed the oil pan, changed over some sensors and shit. Made a custom coil bracket. He put solid mounts on it so we'll see how long it takes for him to get tired of them haha Pretty straight forward swap. He put the plug wires on backwards on the coil so it took us a couple minutes to figure out why it wouldn't start, but we figured it out and it runs beautifully The motor was super clean, only had 90k on it vs 193k on the shitty tired 1.6. He's really happy with it so I'm glad we could get it done while I'm here. Now it's time to actually relax on my vacation haha. More real updates soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

i too forgot to change my oil filter when doing my sr swap lol. Had to do exactly what you did, hammer a screwdriver threw it to get leverage haha. Fun times.
And whats with the position of your dipstick? |

It was such a pain in the ass haha. And the dipstick tube sat right where the manifold is, and it was closer to being between the tubes than outside them. I didn't really wanna bend it too much

I'm definitely lacking on the updates but I've been super busy between work and trying to get work in on this thing.
So first thing after my vacation I came back and cleaned up my section of the shop. I had a huge mess and I needed to start fresh with a clean work space I started working on my rad support so I could get the front end buttoned up I'm very happy with the way the removable rad support section came out and how the intercooler support came out Added a lower support to the intercooler also just to make sure it doesn't move around I didn't get any pics, but I finished the lower harness wiring for the starter, alternator, and the rest of my left over wiring. Put all my clamps on that we're missing, reinstalled my driveshaft, changed my plugs, put my power steering belt on, installed my shifter, finished up basically all the loose ends for the motor/drivetrain My buddy tony got bored at the shop the other day and cut up my fenders for my overfenders And it once again runs! I bled the cooling system, found an oil leak and fixed it, bled the power steering, filled my trans, and it sounds AMAZING! So excited to drive this thing. I'll be back with more updates soon.
