93 240sx dohc, bog and rough idle.

I just recently bought a 93 ka24de 240sx, it ran fine for maybe 2 weeks, 3 at most. then it started bogging at first it seemed to bog around 5-5,500 rpm, i dont drive it too much, now it bogs hitting the gas. it starts around 10mins after i start driving, if i just barley hit the gas just enough to speed up a hair i wont notice anything, as soon as i push pedal anymore it bogs, i can literally floor the gas and it will do nothing at all, it doesnt try to cut off either. besides this problem it was fine, now it sat for a weekend, and i got in it on monday and it was idling really rough, like the whole car is shaking rough. im not sure what the problem is. i have a few ideas but has anything went through this?

+1.

I'd do an initial tune up. All of the basic, even oil and oil filter. This should be one thing that every person should do when buying a "new to them car".

Do this, then get back w/ us.

This is an infamous problem with the S-chassis cars. From what I've seen it spans over all S13 and S14 models, regardless of engine or anything. I am currently dealing with it myself right now, with my SOHC S13. Here is what I've done so far:

- Tune Up ( plugs, wires, cap, rotor, blah blah blah )
- Cleaned throttle body.
- Cleaned IACV.
- Replaced O2 sensor.
- Replaced fuel filter.
- Replaced fuel pump.
- Checked MAF and TPS.
- Replaced timing chain.

Probably a few other things now, but that's a gist. I'm currently replacing the exhaust manifold. Honestly this is no right answer for you. I have done a ton of research and found that sometimes the issue is an injector, a dirty MAF or IACV, an issue with the wiring harness, and so much more. It's guess and check from here, I'm sorry to say. I've gotten my idle to improve but still have yet to fix it.

If it helps, there is a ton of info on the internet. Check the car for codes, too. Hope it all works out!

If you didn't change the distributor timing good.

Change your fuel filter

Check your fuel pressure

Pull your fuel pump and look at the pumps filter on the pump. change if necessary, also check for debris in the sump and tank. For what ever dumb reason I had a lot of rust sediments in my convertible gas tank and had this issue. I literally scooped out several handfuls as if it were like sand from my tank. I don't know if this was vandalism or what because my tank looked like it was in good shape otherwise(as I recall).

Check for vac leaks. I also had bad luck with this. one of the large Allen head plugs in the intake manifold came undone and caused it to idle in a messed up way and barely at all. with the extra air while driving it was also driving weird, but I don't recall the behavior, I have slept since then.

Yup your intake manifold is actually 2 pieces. upper and lower. there is a gasket between the 2 replace it.
It kicked my ass to figure this one out.
Vacuum can be a B!
