The tuned auto is from levelten.com and it looks pretty sweet. As far as I know, all those dragsters are running sevens with tuned auto transmissions.

What are your thoughts

(sorry for the poll in the Tech section, but it comes complete with a tech related thread)

A $3500 trans?

A shift kit and a high stall converter should be a lot less.

While a tuned auto is crazy fast, it doesn't sound like it would be fun to drive. It doubt it would be comfy for the street either.
For me, I like going fast, and every but helps. But clutching and shifting is part of the experience, at least for me.
I'll take the manual for free

I see no reason to dump money on a race Auto tranny that can handle outrageous amounts of HP, unless you already have outrageous amounts of HP. I've never driven a car with this kind of setup but I would imagine it wouldn't be very streetable either..

I run an FMX auto with a 3000 stall converter, braided lines, B&M Pro Shift Kit, B&M Bands and B&M Flex Plate in my Fairlane and run 1/2 second faster ETs in the 1/4 mile than I did with a Top Loader four speed and Hi-Perf clutch set up. Granted it is just barely streetable now.

Most serious straight liners I know run autos. They just shift faster and launch better than a manual.

See as far as I heard, Auto's get an astounding launch and being the fact taht machine shifts faster than man, i was left only to assume that the tuned Auto could do more quarter mile damage. And as for the street, the gears arent going to be set at alcohol dragster ratios, just something with a little pep in its step.

I would go for a manual, since I finally learned how to drive stick.
