I was wondering about the Continental DWS. I need a good all-season tire that i wont have to change anytime soon. Read good reviews on em and they were recommended on TireRack and Consumer Reports. Just seeing if anyone has used them personally.

Honestly, tire wear is subjective to driving style, how much pressure is being run on them, alignment, and surface.

hopefully you all are basing your experiences off of multiple surfaces when you talk about two different tires and how they react.

For rears I don't think I'm going to stray away from rt615, dz101, and 595ss.

If I can find a source to get me those Kaiser tires, I will try those.

Im running the new General G-Max AS-03 for the rears. So far, they've been predictable both in dry and wet. For an all season tire, they've been really good in my opinion compared to any other All-Season tires I've driven on (Kumho AST/ASX, Falken ZE-512 , Dunlop SP-Sports and Advan S4)

I have Continental DWS tires on my Subaru.. They are really great tires, especially in the rain - they feel as if you were driving on dry pavement. Havnt tried it in the snow yet, but will see during this winter. Overall, best all-season tire I have driven on (previous all-seasons were Kumho ASX, Falken Ziex, Toyo Proxes 4). One complaint is, they are rated UHP tires, but are definitely not, due to such a soft sidewall.

The pattern on the the new RTs are the same as the old RTs? I've been turned off with RT615s just cuz they turn to goo when they get too hot and the damn asymetrical pattern, can't flip the shit when you got camber wear.

Think thats the other reason I like Star Specs, I start eating the inside, I can flip them and get a bit more out of them.

I have 325 roughly hp sr20det running 17x9.5 +15 front 18x9.5+18 rear rpf1's on my s13 w/ super angle kit knuckles so lots of camber upfront.
Reason why i am posting is because I am wondering what tire to run all the way around I want to try either the Falken 615's or the Hankook rs3. I want to make sure those tires are sticky enough to where I need traction in the rear i have it, smoke super well, and i want to make sure they arent to sticky for my 325 hp to spin when needing to upshit/downshift.

Or dz101's in back.

Orrrrrr federal 595ss for cheapies.

If you want more traction, you can increase your toe a little, or run less pressure in your tires.

i ran z1 star specs up front for like 8k miles and 5 events. they wore out pretty fast

dz101's are pretty good I hear! Good balance between having durability and grip. StarSpecs are great if you can afford to drift on them.... I heard the RT has the same tread, but new material but not sure and yes the old ones turned to goo even if you are just on a hot day, but great for autox though. Heat up so quikc.

ive run s.drives on the front and rear. they are very good balance between price and grip. they also smoke A LOT and dont chunk. they also come in like every size.

they even came in 225/35-17s which i ran up front and was slammed lower than life

I had the V12's up front at the beginning of this year. They offered some pretty decent turn in but felt a little mushy from the soft sidewall. Wet grip was pretty good too. I had a fucked up alignment so I can't comment on how long there suppose to last. For the price though I would spend the extra and go for something like Continental DW's orput a little more out for some Star Specs.

Falken 615's or Starspecs. Nothing else unless it's for fitment reasons.

I'm going to run the 225 40 18's 615k's on the front...i'll let you know how I like it. I've ran star specs, federal Rsr's, Nankang NS-2, Federal 595's, Hankook VII, Hankook RS3, ...and I'm sure some other shit. I always try something new. So far...Nexens and Triangles have lasted the longest, but I like the grip of the Starspecs for the front. I've only heard good things about the Falkens.

They're great in the rain. I had 225/45/17 on a 9j and the stretch was really subtle. They do start to lose grip after a few heat cycles though.

Bumping this thread from the dead and hopefully this will be the official tire review thread, since we got a couple floating around.

Anyways, looking for input. Im in the market for replacement front tire for my Dunlop Star Specs. Since they're getting phased out, damn near impossible to find them. Anybody tried these tires and went with Hankook RS3s? How are these tires compared to the Star Specs, I'm worried about the softer compound and shallow thread depth not lasting. I get about 14-15 months out of the Star Specs right now, DD'ing it and hitting about 5 track days on them.

My other option/downgrade is the V12 EVO. Less sticky but figured I'd get more miles out of them over Star Specs or RS3s.

PS: What I'm considering and why:
Hankook V12 Evo (figured they'll last the longest since they're pretty much street tires)
Hankook RS3 (softer compound and soft sidewall kinda got me on the fence, 140 UTG)
Yokohama Neova AD08 (figured as close to the Star Specs, even better but just pricier).
Michelin PS2 (just cuz Kable keeps raving about it, but I'm not a fan of the Asymetrical threads since I cant flip them due to camber wear)
Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 (probably the highest rated tires out there but again, Asymetrical thread got me on the fence).

not the rs3, but the v12 placed above all other UHP tires, second only to the star spec. says a lot about the quality and performance of hankook.

the rs3 should be a great tire. its predecessor the rs2 had great reviews. i was considering them, as they have a similar performance and thread design as star specs. however they are not available in 235/40r17. dunlop has released the succesor to the star spec, Direzza Z2 and should be available early next year.

as for burners, i have been using Hero Milanza HZ1, cheap, made by federal, 240 treadwear, symetrical (not that they survive long enough to be flipped lol) good grip and smoke.
