Ford Mustang thread
i've been driving a CL for a couple years now as my daily, and i'm tired of it. it's about to roll over 100k, so i'm trying to sell it before that happens.
as for what i want to get for a daily.. i'm not dead-set, but i haven't had a daily 'vert in quite some time (my first car was a lolbaron, i own a '67 Galaxie but it's not a daily, and i had a '92 M30 'vert for a while), and with winter approaching, they're going to be loading up craigslist soon. i also haven't daily'd a manual since i daily drove the 240, and that's been years. so anyway, i'm thinking 87-93 5.0 Mustang 'vert, stick, preferably LX model, but i could deal with a GT and its excess cladding. anybody have one/admire these cars? the fox is my second favorite generation of Mustang next to the first gen. my roommate has a lightly modded new edge GT, and it's a lot of fun to beat on, although he's constantly whining about fit and finish. but he's a pussy about that sort of thing, and the new edge really isn't the same as what i'd be getting into. anybody have one of these hillbilly shoeboxes? i know i'm asking on the wrong forum because you're all track-star hipster californians with glass-smooth mountain passes so you need something that "can turn", but maybe, just maybe, somebody on here likes classic american fun.

get a fox you wont regret it.... and get yourself some gt40 heads and intake some gears, basic mods and youll be happy with the results. i sold all my 240s to get a fox...

WTF. How can you sell all of your 240S and end up with that? And that widebody thing is fucking gross. EDIT: Also, Busted... verts are pretty gay. |

its a piece of american history so you know....its not called the dominator for nothing... my 240s were getting me no where, plus i needed real power so i got a v8....

Cmon dude, a foxbody? At least get a pre-99 fourth gen. Still cheap to mod, and they look 100x better, a little like an S14.
Or you could just man up and get an F-body camaro. |

I've NEVER called a foxbody a, "dominator". Honestly, those cars are shit and are only seen by fat dudes who think they are the hottest/fastest shit on the road.

lol that mustang is called a dominator........and no..not all dudes driving around in foxes are white, some asian peeps i know are realizing how much money they are wasting tryig to get their 4cyl engine put out as much hp as a stock mustang does. you should try one....maybe youll like it...

I thought the Dominator was a trim level of the foxbody, like a step above a GT, and was limited edition. A foxbody is not automatically a Dominator.
My white trash neighbor has a foxbody.... ughhh. Don't do it Busted. |

fox bodies suspension sucks ass. It will take alot of money to get it "right" to make it a fun driving car other then going straight. New Edge are getting cheaper now adays and it may be a better buy with options available for it.
I have an 08 GT and i love it. |

i have no interest in "tracking" it. it'd be a daily driver/straight line fun car. and my roommate has a new ege. i find their styling excessive/uninspired.
the 05+ are nice looking, but out of my price range

Ok, this is what you do. 5.0 LX, ditch the 5.0, drop in a 5.7. Or, get the Mustang SVO with the 2.3 turbo. Those engines are damn near indestructable.
enough to piss off any redneck with a hardon for v8s, yet still sexy to those who are into bastard swaps and small powerful engines... like myself. I love foxbody's though, I think they just epitomize everything about the 80s lol.

Then get a fuckin SBC 350! Maybe even 400... Good engines, cheap, easy.
At least try to get a notchback. I don't dig the hatches. But I love foxbodies. I'd rock one no matter what the engine or body was as a daily.

I seriously hate mustangs. I probably shouldn't say much considering but I have never liked their looks, their engines, the whole front-mount distributor thing, and I have never really liked the 5.0.
Maybe reconsider for an LS1 vehicle? Try and find an 01-02 Camaro, a Vette (if you can afford), or one of the LS1 firebirds? Would be about the same gas mileage (kind of a general estimate) based on the mustangs size (small, semi-lightweight) vs. the LS1's efficiency (even in the heavier f-bodies and vettes...well...i dunno how much vettes weigh vs. mustangs but....i'm talking outta my ass.../facepalm ;p). Just putting it out there honestly. Don't want any shit for it ;p |
