S13 Endless Problems
You guys think it's worth it to keep putting money into this s13? It gives me endless problems, all these leaks and electrical problems are going to cost well over 3k. I paid 3k for my car. Do you guys think its worth it? And if you have any suggestions on what to do, lmk. Thanks!

wtf? what leaks and electrical problems are going to cost you 3k? you're getting fucked. s13's leak oil, it happens, get over it if it's too expensive.

It's not worth it unless it makes you happy. You'll never make your money back, so don't invest into one of these cars if you're not really feeling it.

1.thats why you should work on your own car.
2.your car is a good 20yrs old. (dont expect a brand new car) 3. if its to hard, quit. ( you will only really be upset with your own failure, not the cars fault) 4. the post before mine is correct its endless money pit, but if its somthing you enjoy and makes you happy then go for it. 6. depends what you want the car for daily or project. 7. if you have doubts , you aint about that life bro |

seriously though, i think you bought the wrong car. you should have bought a newer car. 20+ year old cars are going to have problems. they are what i call a mechanics car. there is always some thing that needs attention. but, like some one had already said, if you enjoy it, it`s worth it. at least for us that loves our 20+ year old cars. i love my 89 hatch, especially when bombing around curves and mountain roads.

I feel you on that one ^ But, in all honesty, I was expecting some problems but not this much but you know, its all a lesson that I'm glad I got to experience. Never know until you learn for yourself. I just wanted input from some fellow zilvia members.

I admit that online helps/write ups brought me to where I am now.......but, to be able to get into this state, I have spent a lot time learning and $$$.......But, it does help as the car is now running terrific and I am really happy that I was the one who did the work......I must say that the only thing I cannot do is alignment and paint....Otherwise, everything has been done under my roof..... If you 240sx is your only car, I would recommend you investing your $3000 getting another car that is more reliable....Spare car is really important as you it will be your main commuter when your 240sx is under done...........The spare car must be in the condition that when you turned the key and start the car and it fires right up.........I am not sure what the problems you have, but everything can be solved.....Everything can be solved...It's just a matter of time.....

They are money pits, even when you can work on it yourself. It becomes a whole different story when you cant. And TBH it never ends.
I nearly abandonned mine twice ... but then it finally was able to drive again, and after maybe 200meters driving, i was thinking "i am soooo not stopping playing with that thing, no way" . Yet i do have a CA18DET in it (that is oem in europe), so it may not feel the same with a KA24. Maybe you have been ripped off when you bought it too ... time to buy a working one and keep that one for spares |

@kriskouki & @Croustibat - Thanks guys, yeah, at first I was new to the 240sx scene but now that I've been through many problems, I now know the difficulties of the car and are just going to work my ass off for this car cause I love this car and plan to make it a clean ass one too. I checked out my brakes thou and the calipers were bad. The boot was just gone and I will be replacing them asap. Probably OEM for now. I also have to buy a new steering rack for my car cause the power steering is leaking all over the old one so its just messing it up and corroding it. I plan to also go through my car and replace ANYTHING that can possibly give me problems later. I plan to rebuild my s14 ka and add the Turbo in the process. I'll keep this thread updated with what I do. Thanks guys for the feedback, negative or positive, I always take it into consideration.

This car separates the ricers from the wrenchers, the men from the babies. So, which one are you?
I bought this car knowing damn well how much work I will put into it. That's the fun part. When you get your car running the way you perceive it to be, you'll be the shit over your fellow enthusiasts. You know, the type that buys G35, Subaru, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Miata; add rims and springs then call it done. You put wrench time in, you did the sweat and blood. You did the daily grind to get that money. You earned that car. I feel so happy to daily drive this hatch, even if I get passed by Mustangs and the occasional Prius, I know I made this car work with my hands and hard work. |

Well like I said before, I now learned how hard it is to maintain a car or even have a beautiful one such as a 240. I am indeed a wrencher cause my car has put me through many midnight and all day sessions of just working on it. If I was a ricer, my car would've been done the first week I got it. Lol but yeah, I feel you on bro. I'm slowly getting it back to minty condition. Getting paint and new sideskirts in a little bit after the problems are fixed and I get my koukis.
