not another clutch thread....
Sorry guys. ive been searching and ive found similar information but not exactly what im looking for.
im thinking about buying my cousins old s13 sohc ka. it has an issue with the clutch. he said it was acting weird and then one day it stopped working. he could only shut off the car, push in the clutch, start it in gear, and then pull out... rev matching the rest of the gears as he drove. he parked it since. the clutch presses into the floor with no resistance. and it doesnt return on its own. first instinct is the slave cylinder. whats throwing me off is the clutch fluid resevoir is full. i was under the impression (or all my search results showed) that if the master of slave was faulty, there would be a leak. is it possible the slave is bad with zero leaks? |

If you are getting no pedal feel, I would frist try to bleed the clutch. If that's not doing anything make sure every thing is connected correctly (clutch fork). Also when you check for leaks look on the floorboad on the driver side. If there is any brake fluid it's the master cylinder. And yes it is possible for a slave cylinder to be bad with no leaks.

i bled the clutch. lots and lots of bubbles came out. i had to refill the resevoir several times.
the clutch would only have a little travel unless i pumped it a few times with my foot... then it would return completely and feel normal. it would slowly lose travel as i was driving and i would have to pump it more and more to get it to have enough pressure until it felt normal. ive put about 100 miles on it, including lots of snow drifting. cruising without shifting seems to have the most effect on it. the more you use it the better it is. but it got to the point where i can barely get it into gear now and pumping it had very little effect anymore. so i parked it. does this sound like it could still be the slave cylinder? |

Here you go - Clutch Master Cylinder Write-Up : 240sx General Discussion
It's fairly easy. I had the same problem for a long time. I ended up replacing the master cylinder, slave cylinder and took off that bleeder system under the car. Worked perfect after that. |
