Just bought a '93 240SX a couple of months ago and it has a slight hesitation when accelerating. This car has right at 100K miles on it now. Under very light throttle it just sits there and goes nowhere until about 2500rpm then it run like a big dog after that. This is somewhat more noticable in the morning when the engine is cold. I have changed the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor but it still runs the same. I'm now starting to think it's a fuel problem and maybe the injectors need to be cleaned. I was going to pull one out to check it but I could not figure out how to get them out. Do they just pull straight out or what is the trick to getting them out without breaking them?? Anyone else think of what might cause a hesitation or bog like this???

Thanks,
David

Removal and installion of fuel injectors of a ka24de:

1.Properly relieve fuel pressure, and disconnect negative battery cable.

2.Disconnect throttle cable, and cruize control cable if so equipped from the throttle body.

3.Remove the throttle cable bracket from the intake manifold.

4.Label and disconnect the fuel injector electrical harnesses.

5.Disconnect and cap the fuel feed and return hoses.

6.Disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator.

7.Remove fuel rail retaining bolts.

8.Remove the fuel rail and injector assembly from intake manifold.

9.Remove the injector cap from the fuel rail.

10.Twist the injector slightly and pull it from the fuel rail...repeat for other injectors if necessary.

11.Remove and discard the O-rings.

Be careful not to damage the injectors hear...they can be a pain in the ass to remove from the fuel rails.

Install:
1.Clean the injector tailpiece and insert the injectors into the fuel rails w/new o-rings.

2.Install the injector cap on the fuel rail and tighten the screws securely. (Don't strip the screws though damn it).

3.Position the injector and fuel rail assembly onto the intake manifold.

4.Tighten the fuel rail retaining bolts to 12-14 ft. lbs.

5.Connect the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator.

6.Connect the fuel feed and return hoses.

7.Connect the fuel injector electrical harnesses (make sure you labeled correctly or there could be some chaos soon to come).

8.Install the throttle cable bracket.

9.Connect and adjust the throttle and, cruize control if so equipped.

10.Pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks (soapy water on vacuum lines, and eyes around the fuel rail).

If I didn't mention it...put the damn marboro out, and clean up any spilled fuel. Feel free to pm me or you can reach me on AOL im...screen name is Ansby3. You might try replacing the fuel filter before you get into this project though.

Edit: Copy, Paste, and then print...will save you time in the long run.

Before you go through that trouble, why not buy some fuel injector cleaner and put it in your next tank of gas?

http://www.bgprod.com/autofuel.html I used the top fuel cleaning Apparatus. It was my feinds though and he own his own shop. So I have no clue where to get it. But as for how well it works, I thought it worked great! I woulds suggest it to anyone. This is the same Fuel system cleaner that most shops use and charge about 100 bucks to do. But you dont have to get the Apparatus, just get the cleaner and run that through your tank. I think a bottle of it is like 20 bucks or something.

as for cleaning injectors by taking them out that will do nothing at all. why don't you ohm out your injectors first?

second nissans are prone to having the o rings deteriated (sp?) with fuel cleaners like the ones from auto parts stores. we used 3m injector cleaner at the nissan dealer i worked at and it was recommended by nissan. it was fed thru the fuel feed line.

and for removing injectors you do not need to remove half of the stuff you listed above.

release fuel pressure by taking out the fuel pump fuse or relay crank engine over.

disconnect fuel injecoter harness

becareful when unscrewing phillips head screws frm injectors you may want to use a impact driver to make sure you dont strip the screws. or just hammer the screw driver in and turn

remove cap and pry up on injector lightly and twist at the same time. viola injector removed!

now when you put back the new injector connect everything back up remove the spark plug for the cylinder you removed crank engine over to ensure you wont hydrolock the engine.

majority of those steps listed are not needed
