socal area need a roommate?

ok so this might sound a little weird but here goes.....so i live in this shitty little city in massachusetts and its very depressing. im considering making a big change in my life. anyway to make a long story short, im thinking bout flying to san diego and was wondering if anyone would be interested in having a roommate.
im falling out of the car scene since there is a complete lack of one here, which is part of the reason id like to come check on socal. anyway a little about myself....
im 25, very honest and trustworthy person. im actually kinda shy. im always down to help work on s chassis or go out or whatever. basically i just have nowhere to stay and the only person i know out there is in london for a bit. ill be kinda tight for cash but will look for a job asap. just need a change. if it doesnt work out ill just fly back here. anyone interested??!

you got any friends or fam out this way? cali is seriously great because there is tons to do, sometimes too much that it really distracts you from the important stuff *like school etc*, and getting into the car scene out here can be one of those distractions and money pits.. But once you get a taste of LA and the hollywood night life, its crazy man you will feel great, esp on a pay day. =)

But yeah thats a big move dude, try to get in touch with someone out here who is close and trusting to you.

Do you have money saved up to last at least 3 months or so ? If so, stick with family first, if that fails then hopefully someone here in zilvia has a spot for you. you'll love socal, like hypertek said. tons to do...

Save up some cash so that you can take pay for basic stuff for a few months
while you look for a job
Become a premie and get to know the blue zilvians since many are from Socal and they are usually tighter than the general population
Premies from the East have been known to come to visit and crash at other members pads
and lastly, Cali isn't a heaven either; there's plenty of crap to be dealt with here aswell
keep that in mind and good luck

Have your moving to Cali as a motivation for you to save your money and not blow it at the bar. If you seriously want to move to So cal its gonna take a bit of paper to survive for a couple months without work. G'luck

Yeah it's really not for everyone.

Cost of living here is expensive.
With finding work, consider unemployment is around 12.6% (vs. 10% national average).

I'd opt moving here when the economy recovers somewhat.
Most jobs (I'd think) are in Orange County area.

Personally I think you should also live relatively close to work.
It's the commuting here that makes it quite a bit more miserable.
I used to have co-workers that lived out in god-forsaken Ontario and commute to West LA.
Took them 2 hrs drive each way.
Was no coincidence they were the most bitter ppl I ever met.

Whatever you do, do NOT live in the Inland Empire (San Bernardino, Ontario, Riverside, Temecula, etc) area.
The San Fernando Valley is also pretty horrendous.
Anyplace along the coast is usually nice.

my homegirl who lived in socal, one day got fed up and moved to norcal all in one day a few weeks ago.. tho im sure some guy influenced her "hey girl you can move in with my pad" and gave her free rent bla blah,.. but thats a girl, they can get all kinds of shit handed to em from desperate dudes lol.

What kind of possessions do you have? if i was gonna make that move, id want a reliable car that wasnt a theft magnet, something no one would fuck with til i get settled in.. like a jeep or something lol.

well i would be flying out with nothing but clothes and cash.... i have parts lined up for my parents to send out if i get low on dough...i have like 20k in shit from my build if necessary...i feel as if i can last a few months on what i have, without touching the build, so if a shitty job came up meanwhile id take it no doubt...

there are jobs available, just not the type of jobs most people on here would work. try hitting up the craigslist adds for temp work or whatever, there are a lot of jobs available. you just have to look. and if you have parts, why not sell them to help you out some more, just in case. i'd rather have some $$$ than parts that are just sitting around wasting space. i honestly dont think $1500 will work...especially with gas prices at $3 a gallon for shitty 87. or if you can, take out a loan. oh and again, craigslist has places that are looking for roommates.

If I was to move to San Diego I wouldn't do it with less then 3k saved up. The job market sucks right now and rent is pretty pricey (5-600 if you have room mates).

That being said I love San Diego, tons to do and it's close to LA so you can go there and GTFO quick when you don't want to be there anymore (which is after about 15 minutes)

Like everyone stated.
Save more money.
You and the girl are done.
So forget that.
Starting from scratch with absolutely NO CONTACTS, is gonna take all the time and energy you have.

I would stop going out.
Get used to not drinking all the time, cause your not gonna be able to afford it.
It will be a great move.
The sun and opurtunity outweighs the negatives.
And will help with your depression.
I was in the same boat you were when i was in WA.

Your car prolly wont sell for as much here.
Cars in CA are cheaper and easier to buy then alot of places.

SD is cool, but its fairly small with less opurtunities.
Its a border town basically.
I would suggest moving to North Hollywood.
Yes, the Valley, but its cheap, pretty safe, on the rise up, and close to many things and many types of jobs and opurtunities.
