can't wait to see this thing running. I still laugh everytime someone does a engine swap on these cars and comes out with something either at the same weight or lighter, just boggles the mind, lol. Great engine choice! I bet the car will exhibit more oversteer.

I really love the subframe. I have an RX8 also and i plan on swapping it out also when it blows, but i still have like 50K warr on the motor. so we shall see if i can wait that long.

oh yeah i almost forgot. I traded that top mount mani back to the guy i got it from for a tubular top mount. and before you guys starts hating , yes its a ebay mani, but it has been rewelded and as long as the head flange does not warp ill be ok. besides i cant be to worried about it considering the deal. now i just need a nice t3 flanged turbo.

why is everyone saying a s15 engine? who here really loves there vtc that much?
if anything, down the road put a ve head on it. to hell with vtc, a redtop is a good reliable engine which is exactly what youve said over and over. its just the rocker arms that arent reliable. the sr16ve head takes care of all that and broadens your torque range and raises your rev limit. as far as the steering you could look into making a different oil pan for the clearance you need to mount it farther back, then since it would probably get lowered, get some tie rod ends with spacers to maintain the proper tie rod angle. other than all that jibber jabber, good job on the fab work!

i like this thread............. and i really wish the owner good luck, because this is a bitch of a job. i dont want to sound like a dick, but i really wonder if this project will ever be completed (and be fully functional).
the amount of time and dedication and BALLS to start a fucking project like this is quite great. i myself would probably not be able to do this, thats for sure. i'll stick to the purist pussy route and call it a day. imo, mazda builds fantastic platforms but horrible fuckin choices with their motors. i dont like rotary motors in terms of reliability. i own an NB miata as well and think the motor is a piece of junk. RX8 seems like a great chassis... even the later rx8 came with density foam filled crossmember.. cool shit. if it wasnt for that fucking 3rd door and shtty rotary motor, ide really like this car. at least youre taking care of 1 of the 2 problems. GOOD LUCK |

Because S15 engines are new like the RX8. You know you dont have to change the head to get ride of VTC you dont even have to change the cams. Just change the sprocket and bolt to the s13 sprocket and bolt. Yes its that simple. Anyways the build is awesome man keep up the good work |
